I asked Asda 12 times whether it uses Fire and Re Hire. Eventually they admitted they had. They are doing it again with a different staff cohort. If evidence were ever needed that the UK needs a #NewDeal4WorkingPeople then look no further than Asda.

@asda I make a point of never using the services of a company that uses fire and rehire. If we all did that, all workers would be treated with greater respect and we would all be better off.

@HRRBFireSafety @asda Why not just change the law so companies can’t use fire and rehire as otherwise it’s clear you’ll keep having to deal with companies like Asda who just don’t give a **** about people

@asda So the bottom line was, that a group of workers got 60p per hour more than workers on minimum wage. So rather paying those on minimum wage 60p, they fired and rehired the higher paid workers to save the 60p. Is that right?

@asda Yes

@fionn114 @asda I do not know how you can keep so calm. I was furious just watching that. Thank you. Dreadful responses from @asda management. They treat staff like dirt. Just appalling.

@SheldonB14 @asda Excellent work by our great #Teesside MP Andy McDonald. #BoycottAsda - they are union-busting crooks. And vote the Tories out today Vote❤️Keir Mather❤️#Labour❤️ in the Selby and Ainsty #Byelection ❤️#ToriesOut378❤️#TacticalVoting❤️

@asda My god! Is there no integrity anywhere? Can no politician, PM, President, Company CEO, be open, honest and transparent? All we get is deceit, lies and misinformation from people in positions of trust and authority. It's soul destroying.

@LucyWoodslucy70 @asda Oh my giddy aunt! That was so painful to watch. My heart goes out to you, Andy. They certainly knew how NOT to answer a simple question.

@IanByrneMP @asda Well done for your dogged determination in getting the admission which was obvious to everyone in the room and those watching. There’s no collaboration or kindness and clearly companies want to do what they want unfettered by any laws. Their main driver is profits and inequality

@rambo82ave @asda Private equity is the scourge of modern life.
