I built an open source dev kit for AI-native robotics: - it’s all-in-one (includes leader arm and cameras) - allows to deploy autonomous policies in under a day - can now be ordered for $2,999 🧵 (1/n)

I designed the kit to be universally accessible: - works with Linux, MacOS, and Windows - natively integrated with LeRobot - 1.5 kg payload & 750mm reach

Assembly takes around 2 hours

Are those Damiao planetary gear motors on the follower side?

@Theonash_ Yes. 3x J4340 + 4x J4310

This is how we get back to the good timeline. Great work.

This is a big step for accessible robotics development ⚡🤖. An all-in-one dev kit that lets teams deploy autonomous policies in under a day lowers the barrier to entry and speeds up experimentation dramatically. At $2,999, it opens doors for startups, labs, and individual innovators who want to push AI-native robotics forward without massive budgets. Exciting to see open-source driving the next wave of progress 🚀. #Robotics #AI #OpenSource #Automation #Innovation #Engineering

LeRobot kit cost < 600€

Congrats looks really nice! What motors did you tool for the leader ?

Dynamixel XL330-M077-T. I'm currently exploring if the XL330-M288-T are strong enough to track the leader's position for human intervention

This looks amazing!

Great Job. Jannik!

what does the ai do?

@RobotLearningCo Super cool!

Sounds impressive! Can't wait to see it in action.

$2,999 for a complete AI robotics kit? That's incredible value! 🤖 Love seeing open source making robotics more accessible 🙌

Congrats on the launch!! 🚀

How is the range of motion on the joints vs. a Piper arm or ARX arms?

Similar to ARX. I can't compare it to Piper

Piper’s last few joints have very limited range of motion. I’ll need to check the ARX URDFs.

Yea that's why I went for the ARX-like layout

This is awesome! I hope follower component drawings and CAD will be released too. I intend to revisit some robot arm stuff this winter and it’s either Piper or a new arm and this looks great. Agile refuses to enable gravity comp through their API but it could be added here :)

brilliant robotic arm, more advanced i've seen so far demo's great & love the fact you make it oss spotlighting you guys on whenever it helps guys

awesome Jannik! Damiao motor orders are pretty backed up though. do you have any leads for sourcing them sooner?

Man, you are a goat on using the teleoperation! Smooth teleoperator what can I say

Incredible

Where can I buy this?

The noises this thing makes ... Me wanna build!!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Letsgoo @JannikGrothusen !

Also, how is repeatability?

There's no IK for the arm currently. Will update you when I tested this

I don’t think IK is needed. But I mean, given a trajectory and EEF final position, if you replay it, how close can you get? E.g., can you thread a needle?

I’d like to get something that will trim hemp flower to “hand trimmed” quality. Do you think that’s possible?

Impresionante avance, Jannik. Este kit puede democratizar la robótica y fomentar nuevas colaboraciones. ¿Te veremos presentarlo en algún evento próximamente?

Something for you?

where can you order it?

Very cool. Is there a parts list?

Yes!

Great work 👏

Hmm, Remote Surgery?

I would pay twice as much for a kit that can handle 2.5x the payload.

You should check out OpenArm by @hiro_yams

this looks super nice, would love to meet at some point (i am based near frankfurt, main) and add support for this into LeRobot.js o7

Not bad, like the openness. At what price would it be waterproof? ;)

Amazing! Any dev kits meant for VR teleoperation/training?

Interesting. A lower barrier to entry could really accelerate robotics innovation. What kind of community support is planned?
