Apple Maps 3d is insanely impressive now (see video below) Google on the other hand decided to build an insanely clunky solution to display 3d maps to avoid using mobile GPUs: A Google server streams (!) a live video of its 3d rendered map to you, the result is a disastrous: a super laggy and clunky 3d view full of video compression artefacts with a response time of 2-3 seconds for every movement And I know WHY they built that, someone felt it was not inclusive to only have 3d maps that are high performing on iOS because Apple's GPUs are insanely fast and can deal with it (as you can see below in Apple Maps) but they wanted to support inferior phones, I get it But then they also decided to worsen the experience for iOS users who could easily run 3d natively on its GPU It's just an insane product decision, there's no way to cut it: they could have super smooth 3d like Apple Maps but neutered it with a clunky live stream Even more insane because Google does have native 3d on iOS in a completely different app that nobody uses: Google Earth Is 3d important? I turned Raz from Arena of Valor into an animated 3D character running directly in Three.js. 🔥🥊 This is my latest showcase for img2threejs v1.5.2 - and the new version is officially out. Image → TripoAI or Hyper3D → Rigging → Animation → VFX → Three.js. For this demo, I wanted to push beyond simply reconstructing a character. Raz needed to actually FEEL like Raz: explosive punches, fast movement, combat animation, and the fiery VFX around his attacks. You know I had to do it!! gpt-6-astra (High), one prompt, Terreiro do Paço in Lisbon (Blender, not Three.js!) This one hits home personally 5 years ago, in college, I had a whole course in Computer Graphics. For the final project, every group had to recreate Praça do Comércio / Terreiro do Paço in Blender (our project delivery is in the comments). I wanted to see how Astra would perform. For one-shot, it's pretty damn good. Astra is a beast in Spatial 3d, and Blender is not like Three.js! It's significantly more complex, with a broader range of modeling, materials, lighting, etc. Generational leap (and I will run a few more prompts here)

I open-sourced the Sylva three.js site and the skills behind it. I started with one reference and asked Opus 5 to recreate it in Three.js as a single HTML file (looped for 2 hours). The moss root is procedural geometry with around 130,000 instanced blades, and all the code is under 1 MB. No Three.js. No fake web-based depth-of-field or focal-length emulation. Customize in web, render in Blender. While everyone is vibe-coding apps for flat pattern generators, or at most Three.js-based 3D scenes, we’re already one step ahead. We built an app that lets you use a web UI to control an actual Blender 3D render. Eevee engine is used for streaming quick previews back into the app, while Cycles renders the final image for better material quality and lighting. So simple to use that you can even give it to your client. Of course, built with Toolcraft.

I just one shotted a bitmap map for Ordinals Wallet using threejs and gemini 3 pro where users can see a 3d bitmap world, and select a block to see what's inside and if it's for sale. I compared Ox Alpha in it's prime vs today just before it got revealed as GLM-5.3 Flash using the same prompt to build 3d raptor engine using three.js OxAlpha on 24th August gave far more accurate output compared to today which looks way worse prompt i used: Create a 3d SpaceX raptor engine using three.js, use white theme background so the main object is clearly visible

(You can use to generate the depth map) But... stay tuned! We'll soon be offering instant 3D conversion for any image. *This is just an experimental version, and any feedback or videos of your results would be really interesting to see!
