#JISOO: This album is really special to me, it’s the first time I've handled everything on my own, from start to finish I put so much thought into it, like, “should I go with a sound that people expect from me? Or should I surprise everyone with something totally different?” In the end, I decided to take a new path, I want people to listen to my music and think, “Wow, this is unexpected! I have no idea what she'll do next!” If I can make people feel that way, then I think I've done what l set out to do.

Therapist Trey Tucker came on Relatable to talk about anxiety. I asked him, "If you could define anxiety, how would you define it?" Tucker: "Fear of the future. Fear of the unknown. The verse, 'Be still and know that I am God' used to make me so angry. I'm like, God, what do you mean be still? Like, I got a real problem here. I'm in a storm. Why do you want me to just be still? And what I realized is that the word, and I believe it's "Rapha" in the Hebrew, it doesn’t mean just ‘don’t move.’ It means ‘release your grip.’ The idea that I thought that I had control, that was a lie anyway. If I can start to realize like, yes, the circumstances might happen that are negative or I might be in the middle of a battle right now, but if I can loosen my grip and stop white knuckling it, then I can realize that like oh—God is God, not me, and He’s going to take care of me no matter what happens. That really is the solution to anxiety. It’s not changing your circumstances or slapping meds on it.”

👤: of course ARMYs loved your solo work. if i see one critique, they say they “wish you wrote more”. and that the album was “very western”, for better or worse. have you heard that, and what do you make of that idea? 🐰: that just happened to be my choice at the time. i could write more for my next album, if that’s what ARMYS want. 🐰: but back then i wanted something else. i wanted to get good songs and release an album as soon as i could. 🐰: that’s the whole reason. i also think the kinds of stories i can tell are pretty limited. i said in an interview somewhere that id rather make up stories to tell, but i have an S in my MBTI profile. so gosh, that was hard. 🐰: so in the future, once i have a lot to do and a lot to say, i think it will happen naturally.

Rick Rubin tells Andrew Huberman how he deals with creative or writer’s block. He treats his work like a diary entry (and doesn’t worry about internal or external judgment): ➡️ “What's the cause of the block? The block is usually something that's either personal ("I'm not good enough") or it can be a confidence issue ("I don't have anything to say") or it could be...thinking about someone else ("nobody's going to like what I make"). Do you know what I'm saying? So, it's either fear of self-judgment or external judgment. If you're making something with a freedom of "this is something I'm making for myself for now", that is all [you have to do]. It is a diary entry. Everything I make is a diary entry. The beauty of a diary entry is that I can write my diary entry and you can't tell me that my diary entry wasn't good enough. Or that [the diary entry] is not what I experienced. Of course it's what I experienced: I'm writing a personal diary for myself and no one else can judge if it is my experience of my life. Everything we make can be that: a personal reflection of who we are in that moment of time. It doesn't have to be the greatest you could ever do. If you hate KAT, I suggest you reconsider... "I feel like other than losing a child there's nothing worse you could go through and it builds you up and it strengthens you beyond measure. That's why I got Philippians 4:13 and the date tattooed on my neck. I could do all things through Christ who strengthens me but I was strengthened on April 13 when I lost my mother. That's been my favorite Bible verse my whole entire life since I was little. I didn't know the significance it would have in my life when I became an adult. But what I do know is that I truly can do anything when I walk in faith, when I walk with the angels beside me. I feel anything's possible, I feel nothing's impossible... I'm just grateful to be in this position because I know a lot of friends in mind that are not here to see this moment. I know a lot of people I love tremendously that aren't here to give me that hug or to give me that text message. I'm doing this for them. I do this for them, I do it for my mother's country, I do it for everybody in Dominican Republic, I do it for everyone in the city that welcomed my mother when she immigrated over. I do it for all my family in New Jersey that allowed me to be raised and allowed me to love this game of basketball and allowed me to be a kid with my mother and enjoy those times. Lots of people have asked what the kacper method is so this is the best run i was able to do with it to demonstrate. Basically I've taped a Sayo device to the underside of my keyboard so that i can tap with my middle finger normally and thumb underneath.

🐥: I was full of arrogance in the beginning, but after i made my debut i felt so small. So from then i lost a lot of my mental strength. As soon as i made my debut I thought I was... I thought I was the best and I thought I was in first place [...]. My self worth was so high, but after that, was destroyed in one instant. in my head, it took me a long time to build this up, but i think the process of building myself up, unlike bulding a sand castle, you build it up little by little. so i feel like internally, i have became more resilient, compared to before.

I am 3rd generation Irish immigrant and proud to be a scouser from Liverpool! I came from poverty and I am proud because that made me the man I am today!! I chose to change my life and break the chain of poverty in my family and I did it because I never gave up and I believed everyday even when I had no money I would become wealthy! I worked 18 hours a day 7 days a week for all my adult life so my children would never have to experience what I did and I made it! If I can make it so can you no matter the colour of your skin or where you are from you can do it if you don’t give up!

I knew I wanted a dark and dreamy sound for Strange Charm. However, I didn't quite know in which direction I wanted to take my songwriting. I started to listen to advice, and what a horrible can of worms that is. Everyone knew what I should and shouldn't be doing, or so it seemed. Write this, write that, do this, do that, work with him, work with them, write a dance track, write a funny track, collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. Every single piece of advice I got said more or less the same thing, I should be doing something else. But that mysterious 'something else' was different depending on who you spoke to.

Well, if you come to me with a weakness in one of my employees, there is subconsciously this process that goes on that says, I have two choices. I can believe that you're overly sensitive and high maintenance. In which case, I don't really have a problem. You are the problem. And you know, you're two levels down for me. So if you quit, well, the manager has to do the backfill. And I can tell the manager, you know, Ryan was here. He said this, that and the other. Maybe you can work with him. And that's exactly what you don't want is me ratting you out. But I can make it my manager's problem. On the other hand, if I agree with you and I'm like, you know what, this manager I have really isn't that good. Now I have three problems. This is really bad for me.
