I cannot believe this is real California State Superintendent candidate Richard Barrera says he’s against bringing back the SATs and if students at top universities are at elementary level math, it’s the college professors’ job to catch them up 🤯

Kid can’t do fourth-grade math. His fix is to dump it on the professor. That’s the product. Pack the car. Vote red. Stop letting these people near a school.

How annoying is this guy? Kids are supposed to know basic math before getting into higher institutions of learning. Why aren't the teachers of elementary, middle school, and high school doing THEIR job to ensure the kids are ready for university? Thats their job!

California has a penchant for electing retards like this. Something in the coastal air and water makes them irrational and low IQ.

Imagine taking your teenage child to visit UC Berkeley….and you stop in a class and see on the board… “What is a fraction”

That’s some expensive tutoring those professors are being asked to do. Maybe the teachers in elementary should have performance based employment to ensure kids are actually learning. But what do I know?

College is the new high school. Congratulations NPCs, you now pay for education twice.

If college kids are at elementary math, the answer isn't lowering the bar further. Bring the SATs back and raise standards.

We need standardized testing and we need to hold students back a grade if they can't pass the tests If they are fundamentally stupid people, they should be in special classes

And what about the teachers that got paid in elementary, middle school and high school?? Should they get fired for not doing their job?

I watched it twice and still can't believe he said what he did... California is so screwed...

This is unbelievable! Schools should be preparing students for college, not lowering standards and expecting professors to fix years of failed education. Accountability and academic excellence must come first

This fucking clown, why doesn't anyone quote them back to themselves... Californians ALREADY PAID FOR THEM TO BE TAUGHT, in public schools from K-12... Fractions start in what.... 1st/2nd grade? Earlier for kids with parents that give a shit about their kids intellectual development... Imagine this shit happening in Japan??

Public school teachers in California must be viewed as babysitters.

University professor here. A semester is barely 3 months long- that's how long one professor works with a class before those students move on to the next set of classes. I cannot do in 3 months what was not done in 12 years.

It is difficult to think of anything worse that could be done to destroy a country’s future. Democrats really do want us dumb and dependent. News like this must bring our adversaries with joy.

Insane Empathy for those poor children struggling to learn grade level academics…. So we need to pass all regardless of mastery of any knowledge. Children Excel When Challenged! Not some, ALL! They just get it on different timetables. There’s always some frustration, setbacks… but ALL Excel When Challenged! How can we see this in Sports and appreciate the effort & the Screaming coaches and then somehow think the same doesn’t apply in academics, or business, hobbies, etc? Participation Trophies SUCK! They benefit No One but the overindulgent parents condescending to their spoilt kids!

Gov. Newsom is reportedly considering a proposal to commute the death sentence for ALL 500+ prisoners on death row as one of his final acts in office. As someone who has lived here my entire life, California is all too frighteningly real sometimes.

Yeah learn 12 years of math in your first semester and then start taking college level classes. It's a good plan.

Author Heather Mac Donald says “systemic racism” is not the reason Black Americans are underrepresented in colleges and professions, she says the real reason is a "skills gap” “This is something that's very difficult to talk about, and I need to give a trigger warning. But the average skill level of black students is very, very low” “According to the most widely used, objective, respected measures of student competence, The NAEP, the National Assessment of Educational Progress, which is given to hundreds of thousands of high school students and elementary school students every couple of years, 66% of Black 12th graders do not possess even the most basic 12th grade math skills” She says it is not racism to notice and talk about these things. She says this is why DEI is so destructive “That skills gap means that you can have meritocracy in an institution, or you can have diversity. You cannot have both. Am I a racist for bringing this up? I am not. The facts are the facts. I don't care. The facts need to be looked at. They have been completely kept out of the public eye in order to keep this systemic lie of racism going on” Let me just say that if the cause of black people not being proficient in certain things really was “systemic racism,” and it really was the White person holding them down, then that would be felt by all races But it’s not, if you look at the test scores in universities, Asians are beating whites in every category It has nothing to do with systematic racism
