I couldn’t possibly agree with Gary Sheffield more!!! I wonder why people don’t listen to retired MLB hitters when they talk about what’s wrong with hitting today? Wouldn’t you think that they might know a thing or 2 about the sport they excelled at? #shegone Not Gaetti Bob File... show more

@MLB @notgaetti Agree 100 percent

@MLB @notgaetti They know far more than those who didn’t play. They were in the arena. The same as someone who is a career mechanic, others can start the car but they can’t build the engine unless they actually have built one before.

@MLB @notgaetti Sheffield? I mean, what does he know? Is hitting over .290 with over 500 home runs in over 20 years even that good? Would love to know how the stat nerds feel about his career.

@MLB @notgaetti

@MLB @notgaetti They listen. They just aren’t equipped to respond so they throw out labels like “old head” or worse.

@MLB @notgaetti Been saying this for years analytics ruins baseball computers aren’t better than humans

@MLB @notgaetti FO nerds don't want the challenge of dealing with MLB experience when they have none....

@MLB @notgaetti Baseball is being RUINED by a bunch of nerds who now run analytics who have removed baseball common sense from the game. Look at the top 20 hitters from 30 years ago. There were FAR more .300 hitters then. Yet, no one sees the decline in play.

@MLB @notgaetti Strong badass mfkr who RAKED. Omg that batspeed and brain.

@MLB @notgaetti I always remember Sheffield saying if he didn’t want to strike out then he wouldn’t strike out.

@MLB @notgaetti Truth

@MLB @notgaetti Well these same people would have you know that Sheffield couldn't carry the jocks of today's players that swing for the fences on every pitch and don't care about strike outs and hit .234 but it's the velocity striking them out and not the approach. 😁

@MLB @notgaetti Agreed!

@MLB @notgaetti You need a golf bag full of swings.

@MLB @notgaetti Pretty great sources...tbh

@MLB @notgaetti Yup

@MLB @notgaetti They dismiss it because to be a hitter you need discipline. Most of these guys now have no idea what that is. So you are dismissed by them. They know everything.

@MLB @notgaetti Absolutely,look at the hitters, they are not watching the ball they are swinging at an area. Great hitters always followed the ball

@MLB @notgaetti The approach in the box is gone!

@MLB @notgaetti 💯💯💯

@MLB @notgaetti I think that's a man with a clue. Never saw quicker hands.

@MLB @notgaetti I'm sending this to the CBO/GM..... definitely 😂🤣

@MLB @notgaetti ok

@MLB @notgaetti Because the game has fundamentally changed since Gary played. And even when Gary played the earlier generations said the same thing about his generation. “They strike out too much today.”, “They don’t bunt enough”. “I like the triple” these tropes are not new for old gens

@MLB @notgaetti This is why the Rays are mopping up the AL east - Because they don't do that.

@MLB @notgaetti They excelled at facing starting pitchers that threw 87.

@MLB @notgaetti Sheffield is 100% right

@MLB @notgaetti One one side.... basically every successful major league hitter who's spoken out and tried to give their opinion On the other... dudes with spreadsheets who didn't play above high school JV WHY IS THIS A DEBATE
