I despise cyclists.

A bike is road traffic and must obey the rules of the road. Running a red light is dangerous and should be punished. Not all cyclists are self-serving twats, but there is a hand-full for sure.

But they’re not even “getting from A to B”. Insufferably smug swarms of them in their revolting synthetics every weekend for half the year where I live, all happy to make their need for exercise everyone else’s fucking problem

They behave as either pedestrians or drivers as they please often disregarding traffic rules.

It's a very simply rule. Cyclists can take the lane and act as a vehicle, but when you do so, obey all traffic rules as if you were a car. Wave people to pass and get out of their way if you're holding up traffic. Don't squeeze through lines of cars in the middle. Get in line, or pass by on the far right (or left, UK) on the shoulder. At a stop sign, let the cars go first. They can go faster. Common courtesy.
