Ya, most of us knew that. 50 FUCKING YEARS AGO!

Shut up boomer

@GordonPurch Hey, the guy is acting like a jerk, but please don't blame it on his generation label. 😁🙏

@SteveLovesAmmo That is a fact. I knew that 50 years ago. And I didn't give a shit then that they were Indians.

@SteveLovesAmmo I think you're probably a pretty cool curmudgeon! 😁

@SteveLovesAmmo Thank you. I have my moments. Probably much like yourself, I just get to a point in life, where I get fed up with the nonsense.

Because when it came out, none of us cared who sang it. Tons of music was by non white people, yet we bought their albums as much as the white artists. Boomers and Gen X. Least racist people in our Country.

They were great. Redbone is a member of the Native American Hall of Fame. This song “Come and get your love” was a top 5 hit in 1974.

This is perhaps the best thing produced by the internet in recent history.

Braking News: Fake Warren is claiming that she used to sing this song 50yrs ago.

Here is the full song.

We weren't racist then and the Democrats were not into identity politics. Rush was right, it is going to destroy them.

Great song never get tired of listening to it. 70’s great music decade.

I prefer this one.

Here’s another fun fact about the band: “Jimi Hendrix played a pivotal role in Redbone’s formation. A frequent performer at the same Sunset Strip venues, Hendrix was impressed by Lolly Vegas’s guitar skills, reportedly calling him the best guitarist he’d ever heard. Recognizing their Native American heritage, Hendrix encouraged the brothers to form a band that embraced their cultural identity, suggesting the name “Redbone,” a Cajun term for mixed-race ancestry. This inspiration led to the band’s creation and their unique sound, which incorporated tribal beats and themes of Native pride, as heard in hits like “Come and Get Your Love” (1974).”

They were originally from Fresno, CA

I got to meet them. My family is Lakota Sioux and did some work on the Wounded Knee project and the band was there for a ceremony.

This reminds of sitting in the back of my mom's doge dart with no seatbelt leaning forward telling her to turn it up! lol

No way!!! I had no idea, but to be fair, all we had was the radio and no internet to learn about any of this.

The name Redbone didn’t give it away? lol

Damn, roller skating music! Make roller skating great again!

I first learned this from @LaNativePatriot! Had no idea until he shared that fact. Such a great song!! I'd forgotten all about it until watching the second half of the opening scene of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie with Chris Prats dancing to it.

Justin Bieber sings a song about the abuse he faced in Hollywood as a child.

I didn’t know that either, and I was around when it came out

I had their first LP eons ago. 😂

I was about to say Dude, where have you been? But then I remembered I’m 66 and can’t tell you the artists of any of today’s songs

Love this commercial with that song!!

Love REDBONE.🪶🪶🪶

Loved that song when it was a hit 50 years ago! Still do!

It's still such a banger song. I was introduced to this when Guardians of the Galaxy came out, and I loved it since.

100% awesomeness--vocals, theme, lyrics, message, musicianship, production, everything absolutely perfect. It was a very popular song--all over the radio. But we had 0 videos--so yeah--Indians?? Who knew? Makes it even cooler.

Bro Their whole continent was stolen, let alone their content

The first live concert that I went to was Redbone and Foghat. I think that I just aged myself 🙄

Wow. I had no idea. We didn't really dwell on identity back then. At least I never did. I liked their songs. There was zero thought about what color or nationality they were. I miss those days.

Hence Red Bone. But in the 70’s we didn’t care about about , we didn’t say dumb shit like, “we don’t see race”. We couldn’t appreciate the difference races if we didn’t see it. We just didn’t make differences. From my perspective the 70s produced the best music. It reflect a culture that was not full of hate and prejudices.

NOT sure if this is Pat Vegas on Redbone or not. .🪶🪶

Back then, they kinda tried to not let that stuff get in the spotlight too much I think… which really is sorta the way it should be, when you think about it… race or ethnicity shouldn’t be a factor. We’ll know when racism is gone when we quit seeing a box to check asking for ours.

@JudyBillyAdams I think they need to change the name of the band cause I’m a little offended by it because I’m not Indian
