I don't know or care if I've already shared this on here. It's OUTSTANDING.

Whenever I gave talks in schools, with 16/17-year-olds, I'd start by asking them if they cared about politics. Very few hands would go up. Then I'd ask if they care about shop prices, jobs after school, NHS treatment. All the hands went up. I'd then say "That's all politics".

That was me, until I was much older. I didn't care about "politics". I was a black kid born in Darlington, growing up in Dundee and Birmingham. "Politics" was old, rich, suit-and-tied, white men, shouting at each other hundreds of miles away. I saw zero connection to my life.

Those in power (& their media facilitators) WANT to alienate young people by making politics look like it's just for old people in suits. That's why @JohnnyMercerUK types get so angry at young people getting into politics.. And why I never wear a suit when discussing politics.

@natogreen Because UK is a one party nation, the Conservatives. We've tried genuine opposition in 2017 & 2019 but the Conservatives got scared they'd lose their wealth and put a stop to it.

@natogreen This is brilliant. This is what I feel like saying when most people act as though they just are not interested in politics. The usual comment I hear is "well they are all as bad as eachother so what's the point?
