I mean you could always just paint it while it’s like this then reattach the front plate…. 🙄

Yes. My point.

@stephenporter70 I think you're starting to see why a lot of people still need the internet.

@stephenporter70 They need skills, books. Not these crappy videos.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just paint the wall behind the socket. Related; people who paint OVER sockets, door handles, light switches etc. need burying unceremoniously in unmarked graves.

Agreed. I can’t stand it.

It’s incredibly lazy and devastatingly short sighted. The paint fills the heads of the fixtures and makes it a pain to take them off, then when you remove the fitting it takes chunks of paint with it and you have to start again

I get great satisfaction from scraping surfaces back to a pristine condition before painting them.

I don’t mind the prep but I *HATE* painting!!

@Footinit I'm the opposite, hate the prep, love the first coat, hate the 2nd as you can't see the change 🤣

@Footinit I’ve found you can see the wet bit immediately after it’s applied so it’s essential to keep an eye on the wall… which makes refreshing the brush or roller a pain.

Ohh thanks a lot Lucy thanks to you posting this great DIY tip ine done it and now my mates are all laughing at me saying why didn't you just paint it when the socket was off dick ! 😫

Haha.

The rest of the tips were relatively sensible with this nonsense in the middle.

We live in a weird world now, don't we? These rage bait sort of things drive me bonkers.

Me too but this one captivated me with its idiocy.

This is the dumbest video I have ever seen... and I have watched "The View" a few times.

It is. I haven’t.

Once you’ve removed the faceplate you can paint without tape unless you’re so incredibly sloppy as to paint the outlets.

Yes, that was my point.

Absolutely stupid. If you don’t paint as long as you have taken it down, you must be utterly stupid indeed.

Die Steckdosen schauen auch schon ganz entsetzt.

The shock on the plug's face...

Look at their little shocked faces

Ha. They know he’s a moron.

😂

What makes it even more hilarious is that it's not even transferable to another use case, because anything you can remove should be removed before painting.

Yes. That’s why this is utterly useless content.

No, but I think you might be. I posted it because it’s ridiculous.

Or.... Learn the skill of painting straight with the brush?

Actually, the wall looked fine before.

Best reply so far.

What idiot paints like this? Just remmove the shield, then paint the wall, then place the shield back. No tape needed, no mess.

That was my point.

@Dr__Snuggels Nobody can tell that was your point.

@Dr__Snuggels Oh believe me, many can.

@BlueHillGirl Your reactions on twitter proof otherwise.

Sellotape, sticky backed plastic and masking tape never behaves like that for me. 😳

I see a lot of people in the comments that don’t understand. That’s scary.

Just paint with the covers off until the paint dries. Wtf did I just watch? 🤦♂️

Fucking hell😭

Literally the dumbest thing I have ever watched.

My point.

Why? Just paint the wall behind & replace. Absolute waste of time to tape once removed...

Yes. That’s why I posted it.

Yeah, sorry.... ive only just picked up on the sarcasm....

someone will think this is genius

Must be for clicks and comments. Anyone with common sense removes them, paints the wall, and remounts them once the paint is dry.

I'm more impressed with comments... The need to correct wrong Is so strong that people can't ser the sarcasm

Agreed 😐

paint first

1 - Remove the plate 2 - Tape over the face of the receptacle 3 - Roller over it as if it's not there 4 - Once dry remove the tape 5 - Replace the cover plate.

Yes

I want my 21 seconds back

I'm old, so it took me a second. I knew it looked dumb, but it took a second to realize why.

So, he took all that extra time to tape around it for no reason.

My dad would sometime paint houses. As a kid it was my job to take off all the outlet and switch covers, and put them back on when the paint dried. I can tell you that he is doing it all wrong...

If I done one of those 'I learned this from my granny' it would probably involve spit, a hankie or both.

Macht erst alles richtig und dann kommt extradumm.

Yes

Who paints a wall with a paintbrush? Slap some tape over the outlets and use a roller.....

This is silly. You already took the plate off just paint around the outlet and put the plate back on when dry.
