I finally updated my Unity DOTS/ECS sample project Voxelman. The previous update was in Jul 2018. It required total rewriting, but it was fun knowing how things improved.

before Fable was euthanized, I was able to use it for an old project: This is not the mandelbrot set. It is a neural network's approximation of the mandelbrot set. In fact, it is the best approximation I've ever seen, going significantly deeper than my previous best. It was optimized by Fable, Opus 4.8, and Gpt 5.5 through an autoresearch loop inspired by Andrej Karpathy's recent project. AI doing AI research (sort of). I talk about it in my new video, link below.

After hours of fighting, I finally implemented over-dragging in the select-to-zoom feature. I tried every AI model to solve it, but all failed miserably. It was one of the hardest things I've done in months 🫠

FSD 14.3.2 did two awesome new things today! First was rolling 20 feet past the stop sign to stop at the line. It has always stopped wherever the sign was before. Second was backing up in to my driveway for the first time ever, exactly how I do it manually every day. It needed to go back another foot to reach my charger, but it was close.
