I found a plugin to build programmatic SEO sites in WordPress using the block editor! This method is MUCH more "programmatic". It's also 100x faster than WP All Import. Here's a video explaining the plugin + how it works (plugin link in the thread):

The plugin is called Multiple Pages Generator (MPG) and you can get it here (using my affiliate link):

If you prefer to watch videos on YouTube, I got you! 👇

I just noticed that MPG actually has a free version you can try out 👇

Another option is to use Page Generator Pro Plugin. The killer features here are OpenAI support to add AI-generated content mixed in with your template and both Gutenberg and page builders. Downside would be that it does generate individual posts.

Great tweet! There's also which works great, you can add dynamic short codes directly into posts. Not sure you can do it at a template-level though.

Yeah, I like that a lot (h/t @michaelcyon) and it has the potential to be a very good programmatic SEO tool. At scale, MPG seems very, very good though and is closer to how I do it with code than any other WP plugin.

@michaelcyon Nice, I'll check it out 🙌

Where was this when I asked you the other day!! I ended up hacking blocks together in code in the columns but this would have been a lot easier!

After your message and a customer asked about blocks, I went out to find an option and this looked like the perfect solution!

For an easier-to-understand dashboard and process you might want to checkout LPagery. (We have an affiliate program too ;))

Looks pretty good as an alternative to WP All Import, but the reason I'm liking MPG is that it doesn't physically generate the posts in WordPress - which avoids a huge wp_posts and wp_postmeta table!

Understandable and good point! A lot of our users like to have actual posts/pages for clients etc.

Profilbild von Ian Nuttall

Oh for sure, I think both are important and I like to work with actual posts a lot too. At scale, it becomes more complex but it depends on the site and the volume of content needed. I'll check Pagery out soon in more detail!

With this example it’s something like ACF combined with a fetch system. Maybe it’s faster, but I’m not really sure if I’d prefer this over ACF + All Import

Why do you still use Wordpress? Aren’t ghost, or webflow better?

Profilbild von Ian Nuttall
Ian Nuttallvor 3 Jahren

Use what you feel comfortable with but “better” is subjective. WordPress is cheaper to run, has a proven SEO track record, and plugins to do literally anything you want. For programmatic SEO, if you want to go no-code, WordPress is what 99% of people should use.

Hey @iannuttall great find. Currently working on a project I could role this out on. Curious did you find that there are any limits on variable lengths? If not I think I have an idea to turbo charge this. Let me know and ill DM you

SO this doesn't actually create the individual pages as wordpress pages...so you'd need to use their custom sitemap rather than a different plugin I might use for more "normal" wordpress sites?

Profilbild von Ian Nuttall
Ian Nuttallvor 3 Jahren

Yeah - basically. It's compatible with Rank Math and Yoast on the SEO side so you'd probably want to use one of those for your normal sitemaps.

Fantastic Ian! What if it's a directory site, where we depend on creating posts and categories at scale? Seems this doesn't cater for that.

Profilbild von Ian Nuttall
Ian Nuttallvor 3 Jahren

You’d probably want to use the WP All Import or LPagery plugin for that to create actual posts and categories
