I grew up celebrating Juneteenth in Kansas every June like clock work.. we would have food, ride horses, go carts through the park, water balloon fights, etc it’s always been known in my household what Juneteenth represents and that’s US. Black Americans ONLY. #JuneTeenth

I'm from Baltimore City MD. And most in the Northeast including cities like Philly didn't have a large Black slave population. In Baltimore, we always had a 50% or more Freeman population; we had Negro newspapers, so we were never disconnected from knowing about freedom.

When a man carrying a Confederate flag showed up to disrupt the Juneteenth celebration in Cobb County, the response was simple and effective: he must have needed some exercise. I am proud of Oakland’s deep history in the struggle for Black liberation and we are committed to continuing that fight until everyone has a fair shot at a happy, healthy life, regardless of the color of their skin. Today, let’s reflect on the dark history of slavery and racism in our nation, celebrate the work that has been achieved, and recommit ourselves to true liberation.

I’ve been delving into series three of Dave Allen At Large today, and have chosen something short, funny and ecclesiastically disrespectful. Before I leave you, here is one Dave Allen’s observations about the tyranny of time in modern life: “We spend our lives on the run: we get up by the clock, eat and sleep by the clock, get up again, go to work—and then we retire. And what do they give us? A clock!”

I remember taking a trip to Florida in my teens. We were sightseeing , new to the area. I was just enjoying the sun and the warm weather for once, I didn’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary. It finally hit me as we were enjoying a drink on the water, we see what looks like a floating log. Our friend who owned the boat said to keep our eyes open and don’t freak out, as long as we were in the boat we were fine. Just hearing that alone was almost panic inducing because he didn’t tell us what we were supposed to be careful of. When the “log drifted under the water, I finally understood what it was that we were looking at. Our friend had us piled in a boat on water infested with these gators. Being from up north, we didn’t see much of this. It made me believe I was in my own movie but I was going to be okay, I thought to myself if it was truly dangerous, our friend wouldn’t have brought us out there right? I stayed calm though, I never knew you could fish in areas that had gators, I assumed they would always go after your bait. All in all I would do it again, but I would never have taken anyone in the water and not tell them about the inhabitants, just in case they have a real phobia. Like I would never take my kids in there in case one panics and falls in. But looking back I’m thinking he may have been in the wrong for taking us there, would you take your friends in an area infested with these creatures not knowing? It’s a little messed up in my opinion but I’m over it.

Time again for another daily dose of my goofy Loki, aka “Lugnut.” Enjoy his silly goofiness just like we have, and always will. 💙 Every morning Loki and the crew would get us up around 0430 - 0500. We would let them out, feed them, and give them their morning nummies. Then everyone would go back to bed except me. I would sit and drink my coffee while playing Fallout 4 on Xbox, and Loki and Teenie would lay on the couch next to me and go back to sleep. It never failed, within minutes Loki would start snoring so loud I could hear him even through my headphones. Sometimes he would twitch in his sleep, and I always wondered what he might have been dreaming about. I would lean over and tell him, “No bad dreams allowed, buddy.” It always made me laugh because it was such a comforting sound. It was a call for every American, to stand up in any way they can for the values that have always made our country great, and delivered us through our most challenging moments. I’m in awe of the fight I’ve seen from Americans every day since. Our work is far from over, but in the year since this speech, our resolve to redeem our country has only strengthened. I am proud to stand with you.

Tupperware was a household name in America for decades. Every one of us grew up with it in our kitchens. My mom hosted Tupperware parties in our home and maybe you still call every food storage container a Tupperware like me. Today, their corporate headquarters sit abandoned and the parking lot is filled with new Teslas and security cameras. Some of the vehicles have their trunks open, getting soaked when it rains. I honestly don’t know what to make of it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m sure the parking rent is cheap.

My European friends have asked whether the US is still committed to the US/EU trade deal. We are. In fact, we signed this agreement in August, and every day since, the United States has been in compliance with what it agreed to do under the agreement. We have yet to have a day where the Europeans are in compliance because they had a process to go through. We’ve been complying. We’re looking forward to the EU successfully getting through its process. My interview with euronews 👇
