I had never seen this video from 9/11 before. Those horrifying sounds that almost sound like splashing are people jumping from the World Trade Center and hitting below. My 18-year-old daughter refused to watch this with me. I understand why. It is incredibly difficult to watch and even harder... to hear. But as horrible as this footage is, I believe it needs to be seen and shared—not for shock value, but because we cannot allow the reality of September 11th to become sanitized by time. Those were human beings—mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives—faced with an unimaginable choice. Twenty-five years later, we owe it to them to remember the reality of that day. More important than remembering the reality of that day is remembering who attacked us and has been attacking our civilian population for 50+ years. There is no such thing as Islamophobia, there is only an objectively true recognition that Islamists are aggressively expansionist and believe if they cannot convert you their God requires them to kill you. There is no coexistence with a death cult that screams “Death to America” at every opportunity - there is only a choice between Victory and Death and hundreds of years of experience demonstrates that without doubt.

I’ve saved this clip from 2024. Maybe you’re a parent that needs to hear it now and maybe you’re a parent that needs to bookmark it for later to come back to. Either way if you have watched your child sacrifice the norms to not be of the norm and watched them fall short you can relate. For those that aren’t at this level yet- remember every match/game/point is big to them in moment and I think we minimize that thinking we are helping them when in reality we are protecting our own self from the hurt we feel when our child is hurting. Struggle and failure are life’s biggest teaching tools. They are also some of the most painful to go through, but more so to watch someone you love go through. I hope this helps some parents- now or in the future or even those parents of kids at the younger ages. Hopefully you focus on building healthy relationships with your kids over their win loss record. Hopefully you are praising them not only in their successes, but also in their failures of trying so they continue to just that- try.

Even though we say we created a “company,” we just used that word because it’s easier for people to understand. But in the end, it’s not really about the company, it’s about the people. Like, who you work with. And what kind of experiences you share with them, that’s what really matters the most. So with these people, whether we go, volunteering or travel somewhere, we always move together as one group. Because if not and later on, when I write and release a song, if we hadn’t shared those experiences, I’d have to explain everything. Like, “I went somewhere and had this kind of experience…” But since we’ve all lived it together, I can just say, “Hey, I wrote this kind of song this time,” and they’ll be like, “Oh, yeah, I get it. That morning, Chief Mascol and her EMS partner crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and responded to Ground Zero. This summer, for the first time, she returned to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and stood before the names of those who were killed on September 11th and in the years since. Look, I can't understand a lot of things, and you know what it proves to me? No man wrote this Bible, because man would never have written a book with so many absolutely inexplicable mysteries. And the fact that we have those apparent paradoxes which we can't resolve is one of the greatest proofs that God wrote the Bible, because whoever wrote this has a mind beyond my mind. Every song release is a big deal. This song has waited a long time to have its moment. I remember when Sara, Sam and I wrote Fragile (the same day we wrote another song called Madness), it held a special place in my soul as a human. So much so, that it kept disappearing from different projects as if to wait for the right moment to be introduced to the world. Being on Evergreen, song release number 3… it’s crazy how things work themselves out for the best when you trust the process. I always wanted to change the lyrics of the first line because I was afraid it wouldn’t make sense. But the more I worked with it, the more personal it became, and the more truth it carried. I would tell you what it means to me, but I want to hear how all of you connect with it first, so I’ll just say this… This one is for anyone in a season of life where the structure of you that you’ve built for the world needs to take a break and make space to care for the human inside. Whether you have those people, or that person in your life that loves and supports that human, or you’re looking forward to meeting that person someday, this is for you. You deserve to be the human you are, and you deserve to be loved and seen for that human. Today, April 7th, we remember the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. 🇷🇼 With all my heart, I bow to honor the family members I never had the chance to meet. God is great for protecting our family from disappearing completely. 🙏 A very few survived to give us life and to give us your names. You will never be forgotten as long as we are here. 🕯️ In these times, as we remember the Tutsi who were killed because of who they were, I also remember the Hutu who died with them. I remember the Hutu who were killed with their families because of their political ideas, those who were killed because they hid the Tutsi, and those who were killed simply because they looked like Tutsi. For those of us who wore the uniform in combat, this is a day where we remember our friends and comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember them as they were: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. And we rededicate ourselves to living good lives, not to waste the opportunity to live on they gave us with their sacrifice. The willingness of some young Americans to sign the dotted line and risk their futures for the good of the nation is a resource we must jealously guard. It cannot be abused and squandered by those in power for their own benefit. The best way to honor the dead is to make sure future generations are not sacrificed for no reason. Semper Fidelis.
