The notion that a self driving car won’t occupy stinky passengers is ridiculous. Teslas won’t clean themselves either.

If the riders are causing the odors, then robo taxis don’t really fix that problem.

My issue with @Uber is the Muslim drivers. They all stink, BO is awful, in the UK and Europe these Muslims Pakistanis or Turkish are rapists and prey on young women. We need odourless / Muslim free uber drivers for safety !!! Cyber cab removes the ugly Muslim drivers

Uber has an adverse-selection problem. Driving people requires a qualifying car, more miles, more wear, passenger risk, cleanup and unpaid waiting. Uber Eats delivery avoids much of that and can even be done without a car while staying local. So as passenger driving becomes less attractive, the willing driver pool shrinks. To maintain supply, Uber has less room to be selective. Service gets less consistent → riders trust it less → demand shifts toward alternatives → maintaining driver supply gets harder. Meanwhile robotaxis are moving the opposite direction: every generation gets better, while the economics of human rideshare keep pressuring the experience downward. That’s the flywheel: one product improves as the technology improves; the other risks degrading as its labor economics get worse.

Uber is so fucked

Uber and Lyft both subcontract to pay immigrants who can’t speak English. Pretty sure that’s both unethical and illegal.

And they're statistically less safe... And that's only for driving, nevermind women worrying about a male driver.

The only solution is Autonomy, I am long $TSLA to the moon and short $UBER to $0.

Uber, Lyft and Waymo are all going bankrupt once Tesla Cybercabs scale next year: 50% cheaper, odorless, spotless, flawless driving experience that remembers your climate control settings, plays your iTunes, etc. They’re so screwed and it’s impossible for competition to catch up.

Uber was just a market exit to an expirement that failed the original drivers that built their platform to begin with. Uber is a soulless piece of shit company.

Not wrong. In early Uber days, they were required to be clean and drivers did it. My guess is from talking to so many drivers, they are fatigued by the gradual and significant pay cuts and just don’t care any longer.

AVs might actually make the smell/cleanliness problem worse. Most of the problem is from the riders, not drivers. The drivers have an easier time policing this than robots. Plus, a driver can give bad scores to riders who stink of weed, make a mess, etc.
