Thank you Rep Torres! You are 100% correct. There are many issues w quality of NYC education. But SHSAT & Specialized HSs are instead shining successes that need to be expanded. Attacks on SHS are often veiled anti-Asian discrimination. PEP: Vote YES to the contract NOW!

They can’t stop. The nature of these very schools, that admission is based on meritocracy and not some idiotic DEI policy, destroys their souls. Rather than fixing the NYC DOE they obsessively focus on destroying them. Kind of similar on how they blame Israel for the woes of the world.

No one's "politizing" the SHSAT other than those who refuse data-driven improvements to the exam. A single math/English multiple-choice exam should not be the SOLE measure of a 12-yro's ability. There are MANY other school contracts/initiatives you can comment on but never do

There are countless New Yorkers—especially in the Asian community—who see an attack on the SHSAT as an attack on their path to the American Dream. For many hailing from humble origins, the SHSAT provides a proven pathway from poverty to prosperity.
