The part that bothers me is when he says his ex only left him his bones, do explain his nickname. It's actually from Kirk's knowledge of history that a slang term for a surgeon was "Sawbones" because amputation was so prevalent as the only recourse for so many injuries.

While it has many issues,I really enjoy the JJ Abrams trilogy and is one reason I was optimistic about the SW sequels To me it occupies the same space as the SW prequels do for a lotta people, only I do think this one has much better writing and plot and the cast was terrific

I agree with you. Every actor's portrayal was outstanding. However, for me, Karl stole the show. When he said to Kirk about Spock, "I dont know who he is, but I like him!", I thought, "Give this man an Oscar!!"

The problem is, Abrams didn't get the character. He made him just another colorful background figure. McCoy is supposed to be #3, and the emotional & moral balance to Spock's logic & rational ethics. Instead we got Sassy Uhura who's also Spock's love interest.

One of Quentin Tarantino’s biggest influences on Reservoir Dogs was actually John Carpenter’s The Thing. Not in terms of plot, but in the feeling of claustrophobia and paranoia created by trapping a group of men together who cannot trust one another. Tarantino explains: “The film that actually is a big influence on the film is John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing. It’s very similar, alright. I didn’t take anything from it, but I wanted to capture that same feeling of The Thing. In The Thing, you have all these guys trapped in this room, alright, and no one can trust anybody else. They can’t go anywhere else, and they just have to deal with each other, which is exactly the exact same situation in Reservoir Dogs. What I wanted to achieve is what I felt that film achieved when I first saw it at the theaters, the tension of those guys in that situation was so great, and there was no release of it because it was so claustrophobic, that the only place that tension could go was right into the audience. That’s how I felt when I was looking at The Thing, and that’s what I wanted to achieve in my movie.”

I felt the best in the car this weekend and I really feel like this small tweak we made into qualifying was just right and we're making tweaks as we're going through this session just with wing and Q3 run one felt good and I did a really good prep laps and then when I started my lap my SM wasn't on and I was down already like a tenth and a half or two tenths into turn one so that and then I had turn seven because I was trying to floor it back so you know but it's nice I think we probably could have fought for third I think that was the case yesterday as well but it means like a perfect lap out of our car and um but the good thing is that we're kind of we are improving and I really hope that I can take this sort of performance home for the season." THE BOY UNDER THE DESK I was that boy. Small-framed. Easy target. In the early 1980s, in a secondary school, bigger boys and seniors who should have known better, decided that my size was an invitation. I was tortured. I was maimed. I was made to crawl under a desk and hold myself in that fetal position for hours. Hours. Nobody called it bullying then. It had a different name - rite of passage. As though surviving cruelty was the qualification for manhood. I survived. I grew. I became. But what nobody tells you about survival is that; the boy under the desk never fully leaves. He sits quietly somewhere inside the man at this table. For years, I carried what happened to me in silence, and suffered bouts of depression because I couldn't tell no soul. Not even my parents. That silence was the real crime. Not just the silence of a frightened boy, but the silence of teachers who saw and looked away. The silence of peers who laughed and said nothing. The silence of a system that confused cruelty with character-building. The silence of a culture that said this is how boys become men. But here is where it gets concerning. The bully didn't disappear when school ended. He graduated. He entered our offices, institutions, and government houses. The boy who learned that size and fear were power, is still performing that lesson, in bigger arenas, and with higher stakes. This is why I am today calling for a dedicated national anti-bullying law that formally defines and recognizes bullying as a harm distinct from general misconduct, mandates every school to have a written anti-bullying policy, creates reporting obligations for school administrators, and establishes consequences for institutional cover-up or negligence. Regulation (under the supervision of the Ministry of Education) must also extend to teacher training institutions. Pre-service and in-service training should include child safeguarding, bullying identification, and intervention methods. A teacher who cannot recognise or respond to bullying is an institutional liability. I might have been that boy under the desk. But I refuse to be that adult that says nothing. THE BOY UNDER THE DESK I was that boy. Small-framed. Easy target. In the early 1980s, in a secondary school, bigger boys and seniors who should have known better, decided that my size was an invitation. I was tortured. I was maimed. I was made to crawl under a desk and hold myself in that fetal position for hours. Hours. Nobody called it bullying then. It had a different name - rite of passage. As though surviving cruelty was the qualification for manhood. I survived. I grew. I became. But what nobody tells you about survival is that; the boy under the desk never fully leaves. He sits quietly somewhere inside the man at this table. For years, I carried what happened to me in silence, and suffered bouts of depression because I couldn't tell no soul. Not even my parents. That silence was the real crime. Not just the silence of a frightened boy, but the silence of teachers who saw and looked away. The silence of peers who laughed and said nothing. It was referred to as anonymous in every news story. And in some ways, it is very private and very anonymous. But the truth is that it’s also extremely trackable and traceable. It is not private in reality. And the question is, should it have been from the start? And at first I thought, yes, it should have been more private. And that was a mistake in its design. However, I think if Bitcoin had been anonymous truly from the start, like a Zcash or a Monero, it would have had such antagonism from the state. I don’t know that the state could have snuffed it out, but they would have tried much harder. And I think it’s actually good, from the Trojan horse metaphor perspective, that it was traceable enough that the traditional institutions could tolerate it. They’ve never liked it, but they could at least tolerate it because there is some traceability. And that has allowed Bitcoin to grow. And I think in its shadow, that other crypto assets are actually anonymous is very healthy. The strength of cryptocurrency as a concept in society, I think, is served best when Bitcoin itself is not perfectly private, but other assets are. That is a very difficult thing, I think, for the state to combat. And that decentralization of attributes is really, really crucial. So, yeah, I’m very glad that there are other coins that are private. I want there to be more of them, and I want them to be more popular. And I think it’s okay that Bitcoin itself is not.”
