While others allowed security guards to be exploited, with the City paying private companies up to R16,000 while workers received R5,000 or less, I refused to accept it. During my tenure as Mayor of City of Joburg, I insourced 4,185 security guards, cutting out exploitative middlemen. I have workers more than just a job, I restored their dignity, improved their working conditions and brought them into a system where they could access employment benefits and greater job security. I didn’t just talk about worker empowerment. I delivered it. #OperationFixJoburg #UnfinishedBusiness

It means reaching the broken, the addicted, and the forgotten with a real path to healing and a second chance at life. I confronted drug syndicates head-on, but we also fought for the mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters whose lives had been torn apart by addiction. 🚨 FROM WORLD-CLASS VISION TO INNER-CITY DECAY I am outside Vannin Court in the Inner City, one of the 154 buildings awarded to the private sector during my tenure as Executive Mayor of City of Joburg. This building was meant to become part of a world-class Inner City under our Inner City Rejuvenation Plan. Years later, walking through it is heartbreaking. The infrastructure has deteriorated further, with filth and neglect visible at every corner. This is exactly why I have unfinished business. Joburg cannot afford to abandon its Inner City. On the 4th of November, give me the Mandate to revive the Inner City Rejuvenation Plan, restore these buildings, enforce the law and turn them into safe, productive spaces that create dignity, opportunity and investment. Today I was in the Inner City and was pleased to that Inner City Rejuvenation Plan adopted during my tenure as Mayor became with some of the 154 properties awarded. The power of a committed political leadership supported by the private sector investments. World class students' accommodation. I have unfinished business to see to it that the entire city is reclaimed from criminal syndicates, and work with the private sector to build affordable accommodation for our residents. Joburg is FIXABLE and will be FIXED.

They were objective facts. My responsibility as a New Yorker and as the mayor of this city is a responsibility to take care of each and every person who calls the city their home. That is not based upon whether or not they agree with me, how they feel about me.
