Linseed oil will do about the same thing and works even better on faded plastic. It will show the outline of the faded paint the same as this, but not a terrible way to do a quick clean up. Unfortunately people leave the used car lot and don’t find out until they wash the car. 😆

Interesting. I woulda thought the vinegar might affect the clear coat and speed up the breakdown process.

why not just unbolt the whole hood and just sand and paint it and put like 3 layers of clear coat... instead of puttin on a temporary coconut oil over it to hide the weather damage...

Coconut oil will undergo oxidation in the sunlight forming peroxides that will further deteriorate the damaged clear coat, not faded paint.

I’d recommend not using vinegar or other acids on paint. As far as the coconut oil goes, put it on your scratches before you sell your car if you don’t want the buyer to see them 😂 the oil will fill in the grooves of the scratches temporarily
