After Rory McIlroy’s comments about Bryson DeChambeau at The Open, Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the 3M Open if he thinks rivalries are good for golf: “I think golf's different in a sense of a lot of other sports because my biggest rival week in and week out...

Ludvig Aberg gives a refreshingly honest assessment of his round today: “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I felt like I was striking it okay early on. Got away with a few things, especially No. 4, kind of left miss. “But overall pleased with the week. Obviously today the back nine was not good, but that's the way it goes sometimes.” “It got away from me quick there (on 11 and 12). Yeah, it was just poor swings. I felt like I've had that sort of 7-wood right miss a few times this week, on No. 4 especially twice, and it came up on 11 as well. “Then tried to press a little bit on 12, hitting driver, where sometimes you can play 3-wood a little short of that bunker. “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I would have loved to be standing where Cameron is standing right now. But overall I still felt like I saw some nice things in my game this beak.” He then went on to talk about the positives he can take away from this week: “I think obviously the biggest thing that I take away is that I feel like I'm playing nice golf. I'm playing golf to the point where I feel like I can contend in big tournaments. “Obviously a good finish last week and still a top-5 finish this week. Overall I feel like I'm playing good golf, which is really nice. It's nice to see on a hard golf course last week, hard golf course this week. That makes me excited. “Obviously I would have loved a different back nine outcome today, but looking at the grand scheme of things, I'm pleased with my golf game.” All class from Ludvig after a really difficult back 9. Scottie Scheffler explains why playing too many events in a row can mentally drain players and referred to Tiger Woods always playing a limited schedule: “I think when you look at this sport it's unique in a sense of like the amount of time we spend in front of people throughout a week. Like for me to play four days of tournament golf, from the moment I step out on to the driving range if we're playing at a four hour pace that's over five hours, five and a half hours if you include this part of my day, where we're in front of people. And doing that four days in a row in a mental sport I think can take a toll on you. “I think that's why you see a guy like Tiger can only play so many events because I think mentally the challenge of just being in front of people for that long and being on and what it takes in toward to compete week in week out takes a lot out of you mentally. So for me playing more than three weeks in a row is extraordinarily difficult. I can't handle much more than that. “When you look at the season now I think it, for family time it's great to have an off-season as well, just for us for me to be able to be at home with my family is important. As far as the cadence goes, yeah, I definitely have a cadence that I prefer when it comes to scheduling and there are definitely risks cramming a bunch of tournaments into little windows just because it's hard to play that many tournaments in a row. It's hard to be on for that many times. It's hard to get yelled at that many times in a row throughout a round of golf. It just is. That's why for me three weeks in a row is kind of my max.” PGA TOUR TravelersChamp

Anthony Kim spoke about his journey after a third round 68 to be solo 3rd at LIV Golf Adelaide: “It's been a hell of a week. Obviously not having a visa to get into this country was the start. I've worked hard, and I knew this day would come at some point. Obviously Bryson is at 20-something under or whatever he is, and he's got a huge lead, but I'm at least putting myself where I feel like I belong, and the practice is paying off.” He then spoke about whether he believed he’d be in this position when he joined the league 2 years ago: “It was always the goal to be in the final group, giving yourself a chance to win a golf tournament, or else I wouldn't have been practicing and playing on this league. But if you'd have asked me three years ago, I would have told you you were on drugs.” Then he was asked about breaking through: “I don't care if it's tough, if it's easy. I just want to break through and give myself a chance to win the golf tournament. Obviously six shots back, seven shots back going into tomorrow is going to be tough. But I know if I just keep working that I'll have enough chances. “I like playing tough golf courses because I'm always looking to battle uphill. I know that a large percentage of the players at majors already feel like they can't win the golf tournament. The harder the course, the better it is.” AK’s journey has been captivating to watch and he is genuinely swinging it as good as ever and making huge improvements week to week. Hopefully he can go deep tomorrow and run it close 👊 Anthony Kim 4Aces GC LIV Golf

Scottie Scheffler has made golf look easy over the last few years, but he’s clearly frustrated with his game this week: “I felt like I was going to shoot about 90 today. “I don't know if you were out there on the course, but I was going to be hard to find if you were out watching my group. I felt like I got my first birdie putt of the day on the 13th hole. I maybe had one on 11, but I couldn't imagine I hit more than six or seven greens today. So around this golf course, with heavy rough and deep bunkers, you got to be hitting the ball in the right spots and for a long time today that was definitely not the case for me.” Scottie was visibly frustrated yesterday at the Memorial and had a long, heated discussion with his caddie Ted Scott after dunking a ball into the water. After rallying with 3 birdies in his last 6 holes today for a level par 72, he currently sits T20 and he was asked how proud he was to comfortably make the cut after looking in danger earlier in the round: “I think I grind like that every day. I think that's just part of the game. That's maybe some of the worst I've hit it in a couple years out there and I still managed to shoot even par around a golf course that requires to you strike the ball really well. Yeah, I'm definitely very proud of stuff like that. “This tournament was one that definitely could have got away from me, but right now I'm only nine shots back and still have a chance going into the weekend. With the conditions the way they are, you never really know what's going to happen around this golf course and just getting inside the cut line you still have a chance.” Scottie is currently 10 shots back of leader J.T Poston. Rory McIlroy has never minced his words when it comes to his views on LIV Golf. He was asked about it again yesterday, and in typical Rory fashion, after saying he was “too judgemental” with players that went, he then said “if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Speaking after a 5 under par 67 to climb inside the top 10 of the Truist Championship, Rory spoke about his thoughts on the news that the Saudi Arabian PIF was pulling funding to the league: “Yeah, look, I think everyone sort of knows my views on LIV and where it stands in the game of golf. I don't think I need to rehash any of that. It's never been for me and, look, it doesn't mean that LIV is going to go away. They're going to go and try and find alternative investment, whatever that may look like. But when one of the wealthiest sovereign wealth funds in the world thinks that you're too expensive for them, that sort of says something (laughing).” He then was asked what a possible route back for players to the PGA Tour would look like: “It's a question if they do want to come back. Obviously we have seen the quotes over the last few days. And, you know, it seems like some of the guys, if -- again, it all depends on what happens to LIV. But if it is a scenario where they have the option to come back and play on the traditional tours, you know, I think Brian Rolapp has said anything that makes this Tour stronger, anything that makes the DP World Tour stronger, I think everyone should be open to that. That's just good business practice. “So, but again I think there's going to be a lot of sort of bridges to cross to get there, just because, you know, obviously the guys over there are under contract and if they are able to keep it going and get a schedule together next year, it seems like those guys are still going to play the majority of their golf on LIV, in whatever form it takes.” That was followed up with a question about whether he was surprised that LIV Golf players have been outspoken about not wanting to return to the PGA Tour: “Yeah, which is totally fine. Like, again, I think I've said at the start, I was probably too judgmental with the guys that went because I was seeing it from my point of view and maybe not seeing it from other points of view. But again, I'm not going to judge anyone for not wanting to play on the PGA Tour. “I don't know, you know, does that mean that they go play DP World Tour maybe; if that's a pathway, that would make the DP World Tour stronger, and I would be delighted with that, because that's my home Tour, at the end of the day. “But this is, if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Rory is 4 shots behind Sungjae Im heading to the weekend at Quail Hollow. Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Truist Championship

REPORTER: "Can you describe the biggest difficulty out there? A few people going into the start thought the scores would be a lot lower. Obviously 3-under is leading" RAHM: "People thought it would be lower?" REPORTER. "People thought the scoring would be lower this morning" RAHM: "Have you been out there? Have you seen the golf course?" REPORTER: "Yeah" RAHM: "You know what, I can understand because, if you just go by some of the numbers, some of the fairways are wide, the greens aren't crazy firm. But a lot of those fairways are sloped in a way that they play very narrow. Like 15 today, I thought I was going to be in the fairway undoubtedly, and I was off the fairway. Same on 10, same on 4. It can easily roll off" "Then the rough doesn't look as long as many other majors, but it's such a thick blade of grass that, even when the lie looks okay, it catches you so bad" "So I can see how in appearance it might be easier, but it's not. You need to play really good golf to shoot lower than 3-under. And then on top of that, those pin locations today are good ones. I mean, they're tucked. They're not easy" "There was somebody earlier in the week where there was some chatter where people thought 15- to 20-under was going to win. And I think that got to somebody in the PGA, and they did something about it. Because if the golf course stays like this and it keeps firming up, yeah, obviously it's not going to be anything like that" #PGAChamp | Legion XIII
