i love their companionship in s7…they clearly loved each other but she outgrew him

oh yeah forsure, and marie in the end was actually his perfect fit, but the dance between him and joan over the course of the show was always so gripping

@birdiedrapers He obv had feelings for her but this relationship was basically all about him, from his POV whether he knew it or not.

@birdiedrapers oh yeah fs, roger was maybe the most selfish characters in a show littered with them, but it made sense being a nepo baby that he just expected everything to come to him, even giving up money he'd whine about like he wasn't rich when don who grew up poor always was generous

@birdiedrapers I was gonna say same. A nepo baby with Imposter Syndrome. Very much a baby, main character, spoiled baby. Don not exactly generous, I say that bcz he didnt care about the money, it kinda was a prop, or just throw it at others to solve problems, realized it didnt make him happy.

@birdiedrapers idk i always read don, for all his other flaws as someone who appreciated what it was like to not have money, which is why in both divorces he gave more than he could have, tipped the woman at the diner heavily after roger was being an ass, was always polite to service people

@birdiedrapers i do agree though it didn't make him happy, in a show about people trying to figure out what hole they need filled, he's the guy who just wants to be in the hole

I love that she completely called the shots in that relationship.
