It was a Captain America movie so he was always gonna win, Tony wasn't trying to kill him, and he was jumping him 2v1 with Bucky. If Tony was seriously trying to kill him, he'd have been cooked.

True on the weaknesses, but Tony also held back hard. He didn’t go for kill shots even when he could have. If both went all-out from the start, the suit’s firepower still wins more often than not.

I forgive the leap to them fighting in this movie because he wasn't necessarily trying to kill captain america, he was just going after bucky and steve was in the way, it's a much smaller leap in logic to get them to fight, the conflict of this movie was better set up,

I get the point, but Cap was trying to protect Bucky and keep Tony from spiraling. Once that video played, there was no soft way to tell him. Still doesn’t make it right that he waited so long though.

Cap knew it with his second movie, didn't he? That means there were plenty of ways to tell Tony who the killer and who the puppet was at that point. Cap preferred to keep it to himself instead of telling Tony what was really going on.

Fair point. The Zola files in Winter Soldier basically handed him the connection (HYDRA “accidents” + Bucky as their long-running assassin). Cap knew enough by then and still chose silence for two years. Protecting Bucky makes sense emotionally, but it was still a massive betrayal of Tony’s trust.
