I still pause and ask myself, how does something this huge fly!

I stay close to an airport, so each time plane is passing the noise is very loud and I can literally see it closely and clearly. Most times I'll just be looking at it as it passes and thinking, how possible is this?🥺

@miz_chidinma I know the physics. Or let me say I understand the physics of how this is possible. But still I ask how everytime. 😂🤣

I'm a physics student so I will try to explain in a lay man's term. Large aircraft like Boeings fly because shaped wings deflect air downward, creating an upward “Lift” force, while faster airflow over the curved top reduces pressure above the wing. The Engines then provide thrust to maintain speed, overcoming weight with sufficient lift. Basically, Newton’s third law and Bernoulli’s Principles are the physics behind it.

As long as theres: 1, Thrust: Forward force 2, Lift: Upward force 3, Gravity (Weight): Downward force (Pasengers, Bags, Fuel) and 4,Drag: Resistance of air movement. If it meets all 4 factors, it must fly no matter how big or small.

@Edgar_8585 Your mouth no good o 😂🤣 But seriously the mystery behind aircraft is beyond quoting all the scientific laws you know have you ever wonder why they call it "craft" not witchcraft 😂?

Edgar's profile picture

@GeneralSnow_ The crazy part is the microchips that control the entire airplane. If we go into that, it will blow your mind. The control system of an airplane is the true craftsmanship of aviation electronics.

The answer is a combination of two laws of physics; Bernoulli's Principle for lift and Newton's Third Law for thrust.

You really underestimate the power of THRUST and AIR. These are the two major elements responsible for keeping something this large above ground... How about we talk about how a gigantic ship carrying tons of containers is kept afloat on the high sea without sinking? Are these two elements responsible for that too? There’s something called HOLLOW.

Baba no be only you oo Even ship 🚢 As big as it is they still float 🛟 without sinking and if you throw any heavy 🪨 object at sea it will go straight to the seabed . Like how ?

The larger the wing the more lift force it produces.

Airplane defies gravity to fly.Airplane flight relies on Bernoulli's principle, where air flows faster over curved wings creating lower pressure above them for lift, combined with Newton's third law via engine thrust; the forces enable even 500-ton jets to soar efficiently…

Omo Ure's profile picture

With that giant twin jet engines on each wing, I have no doubt.

Aerodynamics is how air moves around a plane. When the plane moves fast, air flows over the wings. The wings push air downward, and air pushes the plane upward. Smooth shapes reduce air resistance, helping the plane fly easily and stay in the air.
