I tested the Flexbar (2K OLED touch bar for Win/Mac/Linux) as a developer, here’s my take: It’s basically a programmable execution layer for your workflow. ✔ Run builds ✔ Trigger VSCode tasks ✔ Git add/commit/push in one tap ✔ Start/stop Docker ✔ Automate test → build → deploy sequences... show more

Apple should have released this, instead of TouchBar

But you can get it from @eniacelec

or a Stream Deck 🤌🏻

I love the size and the shape of it

Fair 🫡

This is truly amazing! If I were to be greedy, I'd say it's for desktops. - Bolt-compatible so that commercially available displays can be clamped. - Since the Mac MX Ultra has a limit of eight displays, It's separate from the displays. - It works properly even with the power levels of docking stations and unpowered USB switchers (the MacStudio has a severe lack of ports). If these features were realized, I'd want it immediately!!!

@eniacelec people may can help you here with this

would be nice to have the current usage of claude code or context usage too.

@KleantiX ahhhhhhh! maybe but you never now what will happen with all this AI

My MBP has a Touchbar. I have never used it. Not once.

Obviously the best way to smash your screen

@Aieb_ why you say this?

Conclusion: useless

do not be sad, not human! maybe this is not for you but will be helpful for other people.

For $180? Pass

how much is a reasonable price for you?

Probably like $50-$60

🥰

You mean a third party failed MacBook Touch Bar?

While the Flexbar does simplify many repetitive tasks, I've found that it can sometimes create more complexity if you're not careful with your workflows.

Do you own a Flexbar?

I already see what happened when you close your Mac and forget about this thing…

There aren't any more MacBooks with a Touch Bar? Really?

if you use Macbook before the latest was 13-inch MacBook Pro (M2, 2022), after that no

I have a MacBook from 2017. I think I won’t change it 🤣🤣 Why @Apple ?

Ohhh that's cool

yes I love the design of it!

git add commit push in one tap is crazy useful ngl

I know right?

it seems , soon we will have jarvis like setup 🤣

ty for sharing - looks really cool also - is this it?

YES :) that;s it :)

Why not triangle cut shape?

why triangle?

Probably just an insignificant detail. I thought it might be more practical. But now I see there’s an option for a stand. In any case, interesting piece, great work.

It turns out Touch Bar is something, but placed wrong

digital mahjong!

ahhh love this

@alisaqqt

Kinda cool

You didnt use MacBooks back then right? Abadoned for a good reason

I did! I actually had the touchpad. But this one is not the same

This is so dope!

@Meech_EXE yeah right?

Thats too expensive

I don't think so!

Lol the most useless feature from Apple. Just let it die

So awesome!

Cool product

its alright, decent amount of custom icon packs, no real easy way to add your own. Device likes to occasionally disconnect and become an "unreconizable USB device" if you have too much on your device. needs more software future proofing.

do you have the flexbar?

Nobody ever wanted this feature. Apple tried it and it failed. That's a clear indicator this will never be adopted. The creator even admits it was a terrible idea to integrate into an experience. It doesn't scale well & support will be shit. Please, remove your post.

I'd love one, but its bloody expensive at $179.00 USD 😬😥 makes it forever out of my reach.

you can save on the side, if you feel that you need it

Flexbar is cool but it needs dedicated hardware. We're building DeckPilot — same idea but your iPhone/iPad IS the control surface. Context-aware, auto-switches per app, multi-device. No hardware to buy. Launching March 10 →

Bring it back Apple. Fix the software and bring it back.

why go for apple? 😂😂

hmm? I'm just a fan of the contextual UX TouchBar enabled. As for why Apple in general, I'm working with #LocalAI and #DeviceAI including on mobile. As of this week, there's an option to run custom models on the ANE and GPU at the same time. I can't currently do that on Google phones.

love it
