As a core developer of Mapbox GL JS, I salute you! This looks spectacular. cc @mrdoob

@mrdoob thanks! appreciate it

looks like you cooked some land

Sick…….

so cool, much dataviz

Wow this turned out great!!! This is how this kind of data should be displayed and shared!

@eforestal

One day, not too far off, the fires won't be so big.

I had no idea what you were getting too, but now that it has come together, it’s fire! 🔥🥁 Tad-am ‘tis

nah, you blew past data-viz and did cinematics. a highway patrol officer would call this 55 in a 25 zone.

Now add multiple planes itineraries depending on the smokes and evolution of fire during time

Blurry line between in-situ simulation and visualisation here, so it's both? Wouldn't say there is a firebreak between the two here.

Yo this is awesome!

what did you use to make this?

threejs, mapbox

not cool to burn all those trees down just to show off your dataviz skills dude

What Threejs stuff are you using for the fires? Is it a shader, a few objects..?

ground is a shader, plus instanced 3D flames distributed over the fire area that activate based on the same texture driving the ground shader + hotspot data

This is peak GIS dataviz

So cool!

牛逼

Whoa

Is it 3d? What's under the hood?

mapbox map, therejs for fire/volumetric smoke

Sweet Historical data for the smoke. I'm working on blending these skies 2d cloud textures on inbetween layers is a next step Trying to save all volumetrics/fog for the small scale at the surface Necessary? Idk Basically either in a boat or spaceplane/antigrav orb, no inbetween

Discovered something strange a month ago where applying noise to 4d normal map noise made crazy, realistic smokey/wisp details emerge. Fixed it so the normal maps animate, but I want to revisit that and see what it's doing to repeat usably
