If you don't want parents to take their children on holiday during term-time, you need to cap the prices charged by holiday companies during school holidays. They only take them out of school because they can't afford a holiday otherwise.

There may well be very good reason for parents doing it, because of what the child is going through. That was certainly true in my case as a single parent. Far too much focus is placed on box ticking, worries about Ofsted reviews. Children are individuals, not robots used for your leagues tables.

Ok, fine. Can @educationgovuk do their bit and provide a safe environment for the children? Constant #Covid infections damage their brains 🧠

While as a teacher I don’t agree with parents taking their children out during term time this is as much about price gouging by travel companies etc. plus that last week or so of the school year is (say it quietly) maybe not as academically important as some would have you think!

The only consequence to my daughter by me taking her out of school when she was very young & before fines were introduced was she had a better education as I included education in the 3 trips we did! Not all parents are the same #Nannystate #BBCBreakfast

We used to have family holidays during term time, usually in November. NOT because of the cost, but because our family business is a tourism based business. So, we our working times during school holidays and weekends, and can't go at those times.

Do something about the extortionate holiday prices that we have to pay during the school holidays.

Parents have a responsibility to provide their children with lived experience, going on holiday is part of those life experiences. Parents have a responsibility to feed their children, and ensure they clean their teeth.
