I think Theo Von does a great job at explaining tariffs here. Would it REALLY be the end of the world for America to learn how to manufacture it's own stuff?

Here’s what could get more expensive with Trump’s new tariffs.

@TheoVon Or perhaps listen to every economist in the world. Gosh I don't know who to believe.

@TheoVon Issuing tarrifs without very significantly dismantling the federal and state regulatory regimes probably doesn't get you to a place where America is ever dominant in manufacturing again.

@TheoVon You do understand that very soon everything will be manufactured using robots. The vision Trump is trying to sell of middle class manufacturing jobs is total BS. A handful of billionaires want to take out massive loans to build new plants in the US using robots to profit more.

@TheoVon Or cheapen American labor by deregulation, then destroy their taxation to ease the financial transition.

@TheoVon Americans—and many others in the West are so wrapped up in consumerism—the constant purchasing of nonsense. How much JUNK do people need? People just collect ‘stuff’. The thrill amd dopamine of making a purchase!—depressing, so depressing.

@TheoVon I don’t think most Americans are aware that communist China has been wage war against the US for the last two decades. They have no human or animal rights in the country.

@TheoVon It’s not about knowing how to manufacture, it’s that we have a minimum wage and China employs slaves. So consumers couldn’t afford US made products at the price it would cost us to manufacture them. Everyone knows this right? …. Right?

@TheoVon Flawed framework. America doesn’t need to learn how to manufacture. We have an entire world of standards attached to labor that doesn’t exist elsewhere.
