I think this decision by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta ji is really commendable. I've criticised the Delhi government on many issues before, but this one deserves full credit. As of today (July 1, 2026), Delhi's new EV Policy is official and in effect. Buyers will now get: - ₹30,000...

#WATCH | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta says, "This is truly a historic day. Delhi EV Policy, which we aim to implement starting July 1, 2026. Following the LG's approval, the policy will remain in effect until March 31, 2030. It focuses entirely on electric vehicles—specifically zero-emission vehicles—with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Delhi into a pollution-free city for the benefit of its residents. We have devised a comprehensive plan to execute this in phases over the next four years. I would like to highlight that the policy entails an expenditure of ₹7,000 crore over these four years alone. Additionally, we are investing ₹8,000 crore in creating EV infrastructure and waiving road taxes year-on-year; in total, we estimate that the people of Delhi will receive benefits worth approximately ₹15,000 crore through this policy. The measures include purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, the creation of charging infrastructure, and exemptions on road tax and registration fees. This scheme will be highly beneficial for the general public, as we have endeavoured to bridge the price gap between electric vehicles and conventional vehicles through these subsidies. I believe Delhi is the only state in the country launching such a massive EV policy framework; it not only involves an outlay of ₹15,000 crore but also adopts an uncapped, phased approach regarding vehicle numbers—meaning we will incentivise and support the adoption of as many vehicles as the public chooses to purchase. We have not imposed any kind of cap over these four years. We have included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, N1 trucks, and 'Gramin Seva' vehicles in this policy...Following the Cabinet's approval, it will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor today. Once implemented from July 1st, every resident of Delhi will be able to avail the benefits of this policy."

#WATCH | On Lok Sabha Lop Rahul Gandhi's tweet on Delhi pollution, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa says, "Rahul Gandhi is posting a video today asking how Delhi's AQI got so bad. Rahul Gandhi, no one else ruined it. The Congress government started it for 15 years, and Arvind Kejriwal, your ally in INDIA Alliance ruined it for 10 years. The cleanest days of the last decade were delivered by Rekha Gupta's government this year. The dirtiest days so far, too, were during your 25-year government... Delhi's AQI is 309 today. But when your ally Arvind Kejriwal was in power last year, it was 382. The year before that, it was 468. The year before that, it was 450. The year before that, it was 314. The year before that, it was 494, and the year before that, it was 340. The lowest AQI is still in place during Rekha Gupta's government, even when more than 10% of new vehicles have arrived. More than 21% of new construction is underway. Vehicles older than 10-15 years are also plying within Delhi, the very vehicles you had banned. Rahul Gandhi, you left this disease behind, and Rekha Gupta's BJP government is correcting it. The lies you are spreading today were spread by Priyanka Gandhi yesterday... Jairam Ramesh said that Rs 34 crore had been spent on cloud seeding, there could be no greater fraud or dishonesty than this... You want to systematically defame the Delhi government and the people of Delhi. The AQI disease was inflicted by you, Congress, and your ally, the Aam Aadmi Party. If you don't know, listen now..."
