Yesterday, I chaired an Appropriations Committee hearing to review the Administration’s proposed rescissions package. I questioned OMB Director Russ Vought about the potential effects of the proposed rescissions on life-saving programs, including HIV/AIDS prevention efforts and maternal and child health programs—such as those that provide therapeutic food supplements and prenatal vitamins. These initiatives have saved tens of millions of lives around the world and are essential to the United States’ humanitarian leadership and global influence. We also discussed the potential impacts of the rescissions package on the local public television and radio stations that provide emergency communications in rural Maine and across the country.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it into the #ZITF this year. The thought of jostling for walking space and enduring long queues,was just too daunting. I’m on a break from London’s hectic pace, and the idea of spending half a day standing in line didn’t quite align with my “rest and recharge” agenda. 😅 That said, there’s no denying the energy and excitement surrounding this year’s fair. Judging by the hundreds of cars and the thousands of people streaming in and out of the grounds, #ZITF2025 is clearly a major success. Kudos to ZITF Company The City of Bulawayo and the event organisers for an excellent job,especially with traffic management in and around the city, which was spot on. 👏🏾 The City of Kings and Queens is buzzing, and I’ve no doubt Bulawayo’s economy will benefit from this surge in footfall. Well done to all involved! 👑✨

Some of these gang members are from the gang called the little devils of 42nd St . They have moved on and joined other gangs throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC, including the trinitarios Patria and Crips. These gangs have been growing at an extremely fast rate and are walking the streets with impunity. They are young, and because of that, when they get arrested, nothing happens to them. Many of them have been arrested for guns , robberies, and other serious crimes. I personally don't see this ending well .

Of course, we agree that more still needs to be done, and we remain committed to continuously improving our systems, processes, and interventions to better serve the people while we welcome constructive contributions and feedback from well-meaning Lagosians, whose insights play an important role in helping us achieve our shared vision for a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable state. Interestingly, at virtually every stage of these reforms, you have consistently found reasons to oppose or criticize them, even when they have received broad commendation from stakeholders and objective observers. This approach mirrors the exact disposition of your political mentor. This is a key issue, a starting point towards ending the war. We appreciate the important signal from the United States regarding its readiness to support and be part of these guarantees. A lot of attention today was given to the return of our children, to the release of prisoners of war and civilians held by Russia. We agreed to work on this. The U.S. President also supported a meeting at the level of leaders. Such a meeting is necessary to resolve sensitive issues. I thank President Trump for the invitation and for today’s special format of our meeting. I also thank all the leaders who were with us today: Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz, Giorgia Meloni, Alexander Stubb, Ursula von der Leyen, Mark Rutte. Today was an important step, a demonstration of genuine unity between Europe and the United States. The leaders personally came to support Ukraine and to discuss everything that will bring us closer to real peace, to a reliable security architecture that will protect Ukraine and all of Europe.
