65 FREE SURGERIES FOR 65 CHILDREN Yesterday, I attended the final follow-up clinic and appreciation programme at Mother Mary Hospital, Isolo, Lagos, following the successful completion of 65 free surgeries for children to mark my 65th birthday. I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for guiding the medical team throughout the process and for granting all 65 children safe and successful surgeries. The surgeries, led by Dr Folaseye Adebayo and her dedicated team, included adenotonsillectomy. This procedure removes enlarged or chronically infected tonsils and adenoids, which can cause breathing difficulties, recurrent infections, and sleep-related problems in children. What made the occasion particularly touching was listening to parents share their testimonies and hearing how these procedures have improved their children’s health and quality of life. My profound appreciation goes to Dr Folaseye (ENT/Head &Neck Surgeon) Adebayo and her entire team, the hospital management, the parents, and everyone who contributed to making this initiative possible. For me, birthdays are not merely occasions for celebration. They are opportunities to give back, touch lives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I thank God for the privilege of being part of this initiative and, most importantly, for the gift of 65 healthy and hopeful children. May God continue to bless all those who dedicate their lives to saving and improving the lives of others. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

What a way to end this programme! 🇳🇬 Today, I am deeply humbled to be received by His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who personally sent for me to commend and appreciate the laudable initiative and successful completion of the free adenotonsillectomy surgeries. His words went beyond appreciation; they were a powerful charge to continue serving our country. He reminded me that there is hope for Nigeria when each of us contributes our quota to nation-building. He encouraged me, and others like me, not to give up on our country. He asked me to extend his appreciation to my entire team for giving back to Nigeria through our medical and surgical skills. His recognition of the sacrifice and commitment behind this initiative was deeply humbling. His Excellency was also delighted to recall the free cataract surgeries, eye treatments and distribution of free glasses carried out last Wednesday by Vision Savers, led by Sarkin Fulani, Dr. Kamal Abacha. I told him that this was my first self-sponsored medical outreach and expressed my hope that, with greater support, we can do even more in the future. He encouraged me to continue. I left that conversation deeply encouraged. This programme began with a simple conviction: that no child should be denied the opportunity to breathe, sleep, grow and live better simply because their family cannot afford surgery. Today, as the last children are discharged and this chapter comes to an end, I am reminded that service to humanity is one of the highest forms of patriotism. To my incredible team, thank you for giving your time, expertise and hearts to these children. To every Nigerian who prayed for us, encouraged us and supported us in one way or another, thank you. And to His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, thank you for reminding us that our country still needs people who will choose to serve rather than give up. Nigeria is worth fighting for. Nigeria is worth serving. To God Almighty be all the glory. #65FreeAdenotonsillectomySurgeries

HON ESOSA IYAWE “I CAN SEE” PROGRAM It is indeed a thing of great joy and fulfillment to see some of my constituents smiling again after successful eye surgeries. Moments like this remind us why we must continue to serve with compassion and commitment. When we started the "I Can See”Program/ Medical Outreach last year, our goal was simple: to restore hope, improve lives, and ensure that our people who were struggling with eye challenges could once again see clearly and live better lives. I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for the success we have recorded so far. Through this initiative, we have attended to over 1,000 cases of eye-related challenges across our constituency and about 100 cases required surgical intervention, and today we are proud to celebrate the successful surgeries of the third and final batch of our 2025 edition. Seeing our people regain their sight and their confidence is truly priceless, and it strengthens our resolve to continue working for the welfare and well-being of our people. I must sincerely appreciate the Management of Prime Optical Eye Clinic for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Their expertise and care have made this life changing intervention possible, and we are grateful for the role they have played in restoring sight to many of our people. As we celebrate this success, I want to assure our constituents that this is only the beginning. We will continue to support programs that directly impact the lives of our people, because governance must always be about service and delivering meaningful results that improve the lives of those we represent. The annual Superhumans community gathering – Superhumans Reunion 2026. We're grateful for the opportunity to be here, and above all, to say thank you. To thank everyone who truly cares about what is happening to Ukrainians and to Ukraine, everyone who steps forward to help, who supports our people and our veteran communities – their unity and their ability to welcome others – so that no veteran is ever left behind, and so that everyone who has suffered in the war and because of this war knows and feels that they are not alone. All our service members defending Ukraine. Our doctors in the operating rooms. Our rescue workers at the scene. Our incredible children, who are stronger than this war itself. And everyone advancing this vital field of rehabilitation and prosthetics, everyone who, together with the state, is creating centers and places like Superhumans – places of strength. All of this together is a great story of the fight for life. A fight in which the refusal to surrender prevails. And in our super country, we have our super humans. Those who refuse to give up. Who overcome. Who reclaim their life – and swim across the Atlantic and the Bosphorus, conquer mountain peaks, build veteran-owned businesses, win Dancing with the Stars, run marathons, start families and become parents – and teach the next generation that Ukrainians are strong. We are proud of every one of you. We thank every one of you – and everyone who stands beside you and helps you. Glory to Ukraine! Superhumans Center Olena Zelenska / Олена Зеленська

Labour's Bev Craig is the new Mayor for Greater Manchester Bev Craig - good luck! "I never believed as a girl growing up in a council estate that one day I would have the chance to stand for the place that I love, the place in this world that I'm proud to call home, and to offer my service to make our city region better." "Because Greater Manchester is special. We talk a lot about our history. We talk about the role that we've played from the birth of the Industrial Revolution to the trade union movement and Peterloo. From the suffragettes through to modern inventions and splitting the atom and the invention of the modern computer." "We've changed the world in many ways in the past, but Greater Manchester's potential lies in its future. And when Westminster walked away from us, when we were struggling as a deindustrialized city region, it was the people in this place that began the journey to rebuild." "And people often ask me, what is it that I feel makes Greater Manchester so special? And it's our people and our communities. And during this campaign, I've got to see that firsthand in every single corner of this city region." "In every pride, village, town, and both our cities, I find fantastic people doing incredible things against the odds every single day. Rejecting the politics of hate, but standing with their neighbors, looking out for each other." "The spirit of a place that their neighbors will give their final pound in their pocket to help their struggling friend do the right thing. But for too many people across our region, life is simply too hard. The generational belief that we had that if you work hard and you did the right thing, then your life would be better, and the life of your kids would be better, is something that many people just don't feel at the minute." "And that is the challenge that we in politics have to face up to. And it's why I set myself a simple test, and I make that commitment to you today, that every single decision I take as your mayor of Greater Manchester will pass the test of making your life better." "It will put more money in your pocket, and that was one of the reasons that my first pledge was around free buses for eleven to eighteen year olds to put five hundred quid in the pockets of families and give a message to our young people that they could be anything they wanted to be and go anywhere they wanted to go." "That everyone in our city region deserves a good quality home that they can afford in a safe neighborhood, and that everyone has to feel the benefits and successes of growth. You have to feel it in your pocket with good jobs in every corner of our city region, and you've got to see it on your high streets and when you walk out your front door, restoring pride into our, our high streets and town centers." "But it can't just be about building the basic fundamentals of a good life. It's creating a good life. It's letting people make those decisions where they plan with optimism and hope for the future. Things like spending time with friends and family with enough money in your pocket to do it, to plan for your holidays, to plan for your trips, to be able to think of the life you're creating for your kids." "And that's what we can do here in Greater Manchester. And the final thing I'll say is that this is about the city region that we want to be. This is the Greater Manchester that we can be. And that has to come with the belief that we can build things that make life better." "And I'll say this really plainly. To those that voted for me, thank you. To the Labour support that's in doubt, thank you. To those of you that lent me your vote, thank you. And for those of you that didn't vote for me, I will still be your mayor because I will defend this city region with every bone in my body, and I will fight for a better life for all of us." "So the hard work begins. I've done this with a promise and a plan, and my promise and commitment to you is that I will make this city region better, but I will work for everyone. I will be a greater mayor for everyone. And we have to heal." "We have to move away from divisive politics that try and pit neighbor against neighbor, and we'll work together. We'll do it together, we'll deliver it together, and we will build a Greater Manchester that works for all of us, that we're all proud of, where everyone feels welcome and everyone has a chance to succeed. Thank you."

I received this message today, and honestly, I am so happy I listened to the Holy Spirit speaking to me to carry out these procedures. Initially, I was afraid because I kept asking myself, “65 free surgeries? Hmm…!” 😅 The consultants and anaesthetists on the team were highly experienced, with the consultants having between 5 and 20 years of experience as specialists. Putting everything together was not easy, and I still have not completely balanced the books financially, but God dey! 🙏🏽 However, seeing all these parents sending in their testimonies has given me so much joy. I truly believe that something is being recorded for every member of this medical team in God’s reward book. ❤️ This programme was made possible by an incredible team of dedicated medical and support personnel, including: 5 ENT Surgeons 6 Anaesthetists 4 Anaesthetic Technicians 3 Theatre Nurses 1 Medical Officer 3 Circulating Nurses 2 Cleaners 1 Admin/Logistics/All-round Esther 😄❤️ And finally, I want to appreciate all Nigerians who prayed for us, encouraged us, supported us, and believed in what we were doing. This was more than just surgery. It was an act of service, compassion, and obedience to God. I am grateful that I listened to the Holy Spirit. To God alone be all the glory! 🙏🏽❤️ Something is definitely cooking! And I believe the reward will come from the One who sees every sacrifice made in secret. 🙏🏽
