Cloud GPU training is a scam. A single M4 MacBook does 2.9 TFLOPS. Seven friends with MacBooks match an NVIDIA A100. Alexander Hayes just open-sourced a tool that makes this work over Wi-Fi. I took Grok 4 for a spin this weekend to build this game prototype. I used SuperGrok Chat to generate the initial game prototype and then brought it over to Cursor to continue coding with Grok 4 MAX. Grok 4 in Cursor is like a no-nonsense agent. Doesn't speak much, but delivers the goods. There were moments where I was rate-limited or stuck on a bug or two that I had to get other models to help, but otherwise it's a fast, reliable model to work with. This makes me incredibly excited for Grok Code to launch in August!

The latest MLX has a CUDA back-end! To get started: pip install "mlx[cuda]" With the same codebase you can develop locally, run your model on Apple silicon, or in the cloud on Nvidia GPUs. MLX is designed around Apple silicon - which has a unified memory architecture. It uses the same design with CUDA. So there's no need to move arrays around from CPU memory to GPU memory. Note, this is early days - some operations are missing and performance is still being optimized. But it's already quite fast for Transformer training, text generation, and more! Here's a demo using mlx-lm to generate text with Llama 3 8B (bf16) on an A100:

I had a voice chat with founder of Humanity this morning. I want to be very transparent and keep everything up to you, that is why I am publishing this video recording even though he asked me not to. I want to let all VCs and Web3 people know the founder's mentality about their users. TLDR : 1) They reserved some percentage of allocation from Community Incentive (which was supposed to be distribute among users) for CEX listing 2) If you published your referral link publicly and any bad actor joined through it, your allocation was significantly penalized. You were expected to share it only with friends you trust. 3) They distributed the airdrop based on the value of your community. For example, if a project founder got 100 referrals and an airdrop influencer got the same number, the founder’s community was considered more valuable, so the founder received a larger allocation than a regular airdrop influencer. 4) If a bad actor joined through your referral link, or if you joined through a bad actor’s referral link, both of you were penalized or deemed ineligible for the airdrop. 5) A few minutes ago, I checked that they updated my allocation to 20,565 $H, while other users’ allocations increased by only 100 $H.
