😂 thank you to traveling outside the TX Triangle. I’m a native Texan who’s lived all over TX, but started my humble beginnings in a very small rural TX town. Austin isn’t anything like TX. Our people are tough, but would go out their way in that big 🛻 to help save you if you were in trouble.

My FIL bought a ranch in Leakey that had a log cabin. The entire living room wall was animal heads. My youngest step son freaked out every time we stayed there. Eventually they remodeled and its animal head free.

Well said. That Texas hospitality thing is very real. The people in West Texas are from families who have lived there for a very long time. They are grounded in family, community and hard work. It's a good place to visit and good place to live.

Try Maxine’s cafe in Bastrop on Main Street. Texas Monthly calls Maxine’s the best breakfast in Bastrop! I too live in Austin but occasionally seek out rural Texas cuisine!
