Sadly,this incident occurred on the martyrdom of the first Agniveer of India. He hailed from my district, Mansa in Punjab. Amritpal Pal Singh was only 19 years old & had been recruited by Agniveer in December 2022. His duty was in J&K. Unfortunately, on this Wednesday he was martyred while on duty near LOC in Poonch(J&K). This is sad that his body was brought to the village by his family in a private ambulance not in army vehicle. No army unit was present at his cremation & no Army guard of honor was provided to him. On request request of villagers the local Police accorded a guard of honor for our brave young man. I learned that all of this is due to the new Agniveer policy of Modi govt. Which is why no army unit brought his body to the village & no army guard of honor was given. This treatment of our martyrs deeply saddened me. If the policy thing is indeed true, it is a shameful act by the Narendra Modi govt. The government should cease such treatment of our martyrs & provide a proper & respectful Army guard of honor to every soldier fighting for the country.
