I WAS WRONG!🤬 I was frustrated with continuous episodes of low back pain despite trying to improve my back strength. That all changed years ago when I found studies by Dr. Stuart McGill that showed many people with back pain have significant core and back endurance problems — and... show more

McGill's work changed a lot of minds. And the stakes are big: low back pain affected about 619 million people worldwide in 2020, projected to reach 843 million by 2050 (Lancet Rheumatology 2023). Better back training scales.

Imagine having him as your trainer

2.20min 140 seconds L plank 50 seconds R plank 50 seconds 1.15 min 75 seconds What should I do there all seem fairly balanced and and I am currently recovering from back pain

Figure out your movement diagnosis:

This is good. Definitely need to do this Yo @DeanTTraining I’m gonna try this.

How does a significantly lower level exercise - bird dogs - build low back strength and endurance better than weight back extensions?

This is a really great overview of McGill’s key core movements and testing for stamina/balance or lack thereof but why are you not doing the modified curl up with the extended leg’s heel off the deck? Just curious, not detracting from this excellent presentation.

Back endurance is still training. McGill is talking work capacity, not a max. Land fast protein after. Hydrolyzed isolate hits in minutes. Recovery is built for that.

2 back tweaks in the last 3 mos doing DLs. I am going to employ this starting today! Thanks for all your content!

Bracing the core is a constant issue for me

How to brace? Inhale and brace or exhale and brace!

Nice 🙂

@SquatUniversity can you share the follow up video to this that was mentioned at the end?

Your back really said: “Bro, we need a software update.” 😂
