I welcome more devolved powers to Mayors, but I vehemently oppose the visitor levy/tourist tax. And as a Regional Mayor I will never implement this. To the businesses and local people, I have your back. Reform UK Robert Jenrick

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Every other major economy in the world has a tourist levy on hotel stays.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick In the same way you would never open a solar farm.

@Nigel_Farage @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Yeah nobody gives a fuck what the Tories think, oh wait my bad, Retories

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Is that because you're still a visitor to Lincolnshire yourself?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick This failed ex-Tory, now reformer, is stuck in the past! Continental Europe has had tourist levies for decades and improved the services provided by local authorities. Why doesn't she know this?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick You do realise it is intended to be a very small amount per night to benefit and improve the tourist areas and in turn attract more business? It isn't like Reform to put a negative spin on everything and make a fuss without actually thinking it through!

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Yeah because residents in tourists areas should pay more council tax to deal with the extra use if facilities

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Once a tourist tax is in general operation, you just know either the central government grant will be reduced or more financial liabilities will be transferred to local government.

@Nigel_Farage @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Andrea Help me here Explain why Mayors - often professional politicians with little or no business experience are better required to attract investment and growth than local councils And how about the cost of adding yet another layer of bureaucracy ?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick You've been quiet for a while as a lincoln resident i would like to know how we became a city of sanctury. It wasnt on any ballot paper i had. Just asking.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick That is the Labour run city council's decision not mine

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Thank you for your swift reply and as a reform member i know that, but it still affects the county as a whole does it not.

@andreajenkyns @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick its not her fault its the scum labour

@andreajenkyns @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Nobody said it was i was asking a question i got a response thats it.

@Paulderby34 @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick I don’t want them with anymore powers, I’m run by greater Manchester, they will implement it and not a penny will go back into the communities.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Ha ha. Lincolnshire. Who in their right mind visits Lincolnshire!

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick @KiMcGuinness will you be implementing this tax for the north east?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Neither you, nor any other Mayor, have been instructed to levy this tax. All it does is, given that you support devolved powers, is to give Mayors a further option of raising funds should they require them. So stop pretending that you are unique in having the “people’s back”.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick That’s the great thing about devolution. It gives you choices. What’s your complaint again?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Well shut the fuck up then

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick not applicable! tourists to Lincolnshire!!?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick So you AGREE they should have more power but.... um u dont want them to have it? 🤣🤣

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Councils have been underfunded for over a decade, they need to recouo some of their losses... we will be watching to make sure NO reform run council introduces visitor tax..

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Then you are shortsighted and stupid No brainer

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Yes you will.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick How can you be vehemently opposed to something is optional?

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Tourist tax is prevalent in many places. It removes some of the burden of local people paying for the services available to visitors. So you prefer your locals to cover the extra cost of visitors rather help them keep their bills down.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Coz u would have to pay it when you ‘visit’ Lincolnshire from your Yorkshire home

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick I've just been to Milan for one night. It was packed. We paid 25 euro tourist tax. Worth it.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Good for you.. I was wondering if a few Mayor's would call this out. If I was choosing a city to visit & I was forced to pay a tax that will not be reinvested back into hospitality (lets be honest, because it won't), I will choose a city with no charge and spend my money there.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick It’s only nasty parties get money for nothing 🥴

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Ms Jenkyns, please be as vehement as you like, but I beg you to never 'sing' in public again.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick You have to pay £1.20 in Manchester, the hotel I stayed wouldn’t accept it as cash and had to pay by card so how much did they get, waste of time and alienates people from spending money dumb idea as usual from Labour

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick So you're against being given the power to do this? You want Westminster to control this?
@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick I thought you'd been locked away. Bedlam must have been full I guess. Can't wait for your new album.

@reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Might you also be able to do something about the daft idea of implementing a booking system for the household waste sites please?

@Nigel_Farage @reformparty_uk @RobertJenrick Well said Andrea. Vote Reform (if we have a country left by then)
