I wholeheartedly agree with Tim Burchett — it’s not a first amendment issue and the American taxpayer shouldn’t be paying for it. NPR and PBS have received annually approximately $535 million dollars from taxpayers. It’s time to cut them off.

@timburchett USA should sell it! let some rich liberal buy it & keep it as is. put the funds in the treasury doge funds for refund to taxpayers or some radio business buy it & change the content & make it worthwhile & MNPR & MPBS great again. the hats alone will make it worthwhile investment

Thanks for the straight shooting summary. Long ago PBS would play lots of classic educational, entertaining and historic stuff. Would never have discovered Monty Python or Dr Who and recapture Dr. Julius Sumner Miller, James Burke and rock & roll tributes. But now it's just a woke disaster. Cut them loose and let them run it on their own dime.

I have some bad news for this activist judge: Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting last summer. Because NPR and PBS do not in fact have a First Amendment right to push liberal propaganda with our tax dollars. As NPR CEO Katherine Maher learned the hard way.

There’s no “free speech” issue with defunding PBS and NPR. They are state-sponsored networks, not private companies.
