I would like to congratulate Shabana Mahmood for preventing the Al Quds march from going ahead this weekend. The organisation behind the march has long been associated with support for the Iranian regime and with extremist Islamist ideology. Allowing such a demonstration through the heart of our capital would have been deeply divisive and wrong. Stopping it was the right decision.
