Yesterday in downtown Naperville, dozens of anti-ICE protesters gathered for a silent march. Participants dressed in black and carried photos of people they said were killed by ICE agents. The group said the event was organized to mourn those they believe have died at the hands of ICE agents.

Protesters gather outside the ICE building driveway in Portland and ICE agents start shooting pepper balls at us from the roof. (Nobody was inside the blue line indicating the boundary of federal property.) This happened while a right-wing streamer (I think) was asking while I was here and I said I was here to document acts of instigating by ICE agents, while they were shooting pepper balls at us.

ICE threatens to shoot & arrest ambulance driver—block transport of patient with broken collarbone. Dispatch: "Copy, your attempt to transport impeded by... protesters?" ICE pepper spray disabled woman using a cane—directly at her face from point blank range. Agents then shove her down hard to the ground—after she was already incapacitated and stumbling backwards. "I had to pick her up to prevent her from getting run over." Bystanders then pepper sprayed by masked agent from behind car. In response to the van speeding up toward crowd—someone ran after it throwing chains at the back window. Local police confirmed that the vehicles were driven by agents with either ICE or the Federal Protective Service. A large crowd gathered in a St. Paul neighborhood amid a federal law enforcement operation in St. Paul that protesters believe was an ICE raid. St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter went to the scene to assess what happened, and said he's still trying to sort the events out. Speaking with the media afterward, Carter said it was a frustrating situation for everyone involved. "Community members are frustrated. This is what we see ICE agents doing all over the country, showing up, creating havoc, creating chaos, and leaving local communities trying to figure out how to navigate the trauma they create. That's part of the troubling practice they create." As federal agents left, police used tear gas to clear protesters who were blocking vehicles in the street.

After arresting one man, an ICE agent walks around the car and pepper-sprays a family member, while other agents are holding down a U.S. citizen. A woman appears to be explaining that the person they’re trying to arrest is a citizen, as he’s seen trying to crawl back toward the sidewalk. Meanwhile, other family members are standing on the sidewalk filming. Then, an agent walks up with his gun and points it toward the people filming. Another agent moves toward the sidewalk and pepper-sprays two people, then backs away… as MULTIPLE other agents draw their weapons. Now, you have FOUR unarmed U.S. citizens standing on a sidewalk with MULTIPLE ICE agents pointing guns at them. Two had just been pepper-sprayed… They were in pain, trying to wipe their eyes and barely able to see. Two were filming/helping the other family members. So, what exactly was the threat? Clearly, there wasn’t one. And one of the unarmed women had to point this out… to the agents pointing guns at HER… before they finally went back to their cars and drove away. These people were unarmed. They were on the sidewalk. They weren’t attacking anyone. They weren’t threatening the agents. Yet, we keep seeing ICE agents escalate these encounters by pulling their firearms on UNARMED U.S. CITIZENS. And we are supposed to just accept that as normal? Absolutely not.
