ICE is routinely harassing, detaining and even arresting U.S. Citizens. From Jessica Yellin - This is Mubashir. He’s only using his first name to protect his family from retaliation. He’s 20-years-old and a U.S. citizen, Mubashir says he left his apartment for lunch and within seconds was tackled and... detained by ICE agents during his lunch break — even after he repeatedly told them he was a citizen and offered to show his passport. Video from Cedar-Riverside shows masked agents chasing and grabbing him, putting him in a headlock, and driving him to a federal building. He was held for hours and released only after someone allowed him to prove his citizenship. Even then they told him to walk home in the snow. The mayor and police chief called the stop unlawful and constitutionally alarming — saying Mubashir was targeted for “simply walking down the street and looking Somali.” This occurred in Minneapolis a month ago - December 10th. I’m sharing this so you’re aware that the ICE abuses we’re seeing since Renee Good’s killing is - aren’t new. They’re getting to be more rampant and the nation is paying attention now. 🚨 BREAKING: New video footage shows ICE agents violently assaulting and arresting a U.S. citizen… 20-year-old Mubashir…and it is even more horrifying. The video shows agents slamming Mubashir into metal poles as they wrestle him into handcuffs. He’s not fighting. He’s not resisting. He’s pleading, telling them again and again that he is a U.S. citizen and that he has his ID on him. They ignore him. Moments later, a group of people rush into the stairwell blowing whistles in protest. As they stand there, you hear Mubashir scream in pain: “My hand!” The agents then drag him outside toward their vehicle. You can hear Mubashir tell them again that he has his ID. Instead of checking, the agents assault him a second time. They throw him to the ground, shove his face into the snow, and then forcing him into their car without ever verifying who he is. They didn’t check his ID until after they’d already transported him miles away, to a detention facility, where they tried scanning his fingerprints and face into their system, and only then decided to look at the ID he’d been begging them to check from the start. And when they realized they had brutalized an American citizen? They released him with no medical attention, no apology, and no transportation back to where they took him from. This isn’t “immigration enforcement.” This is lawless violence, committed by federal agents who act as if citizens have no rights and cameras don’t exist. 🚨Another day, another video of ICE agents illegally demanding a U.S. citizen prove their citizenship, in Brownsville, TX. In the video, ICE agents have a U.S. citizen boxed in with their vehicles. After demanding that he show his ID, the U.S. citizen asks if he is free to go, and then tells them to get the F away from his car. Instead of going back to their own cars, the agents tell him to “chill”… after they had already illegally detained him and demanded identification. The U.S. citizen then gets out of his car, to record the agents’ license plates, and one of the ICE agents has the audacity to say: “Sir, please don’t interfere with our investigations.” Interfere with what investigation? He WAS the investigation. If they’re letting him leave, then there is nothing left for him to “interfere” with. Recording government agents, in public, is protected by the First Amendment, and they don’t get to invent an “investigation” to discourage someone from filming. And this is becoming a pattern. ICE agents are stopping whoever they want… and demanding papers. But that is not how constitutional rights work. ICE didn’t have reasonable suspicion that he had committed an immigration violation… since he is a U.S. citizen. So, detaining him, and demanding that he identify himself, violates his Fourth Amendment rights. U.S. citizens are not required to prove their citizenship, to any law enforcement, simply because they were stopped and questioned. And that’s what makes these encounters so dangerous. When U.S. citizens refuse to comply with these unlawful demands, we’ve repeatedly seen ICE agents escalate the situation with physical force. Citizens have been shoved, dragged from vehicles, pinned to the ground, and pepper sprayed after refusing unlawful demands, or asserting their constitutional rights. And a right isn’t a right if exercising it means you risk being assaulted by the very government that’s supposed to protect it. This isn’t just about immigration anymore. It’s about whether every American can exercise their constitutional rights without fearing they’ll be met with intimidation, violence, or retaliation from federal agents. If federal agents can stop U.S. citizens, demand they prove who they are without lawful justification, and then escalate when people refuse… Then nobody’s constitutional rights are safe.

In Atlantic City. He showed them his license. They dismissed it. He showed them ANOTHER form of ID. They STILL kept interrogating him about where he lived, who he lived with, whether Venezuelans lived in his home, who had been in his car, and whether the vehicle was registered to him. All while illegally detaining him in his car. And in the end… The agents admitted they weren’t even looking for the person connected to the car’s registration. So, why was this U.S. citizen stopped, surrounded, and interrogated in the first place? The Fourth Amendment does not disappear because agents “suspect” someone might be undocumented. You do not have to repeatedly prove your citizenship to federal agents because they decided you “look foreign enough” to question. Yet, this keeps happening to U.S. citizens across the country.

This is the same man they targeted back in October, when I shared a video showed ICE ramming his car, and the lying about a crash they caused. Now they’re doing it again… In the video, ICE agents, in unmarked vehicles, blocked his car and rammed it while he was trying to leave… They used their vehicle as a weapon to force stop a U.S. citizen, AGAIN. They smashed his window, dragged him out, and threw him to the ground, even though he wasn’t resisting. But it gets worse… They then took him to the hospital, and kept him handcuffed to a bed, while masked “federal contractors” stood guard with no identification, no charges, and no explanation. His lawyers tried to reach him and were physically shoved and denied access. Detaining someone without charges, denying access to an attorney, using force without justification, and operating without identification, are violations of basic constitutional rights. And the hospital went along with it… Allowing unknown men to keep someone restrained without verifying who they were, or why he was being held. And if this sounds familiar, it should. The first time this happened, in October, ICE tried to claim he caused the crash, and video proved they were lying. Now, they’re escalating against the same target, and still no accountability. He’s a U.S. citizen. They rammed his car, detained him without cause, blocked his lawyers, held him in a hospital like a prisoner… and then released him with no charges, because there were none. That’s the system they’re building… one where the law doesn’t matter, your rights don’t matter, and they can injure you, detain you, and walk away like nothing happened.

In the video, mask ICE agents approach a construction site. One masked agent orders a man to put down the pole he’s carrying, so he can question him… while another agent walks up to a man who is setting concrete. The man setting concrete tells the agent he isn’t going to talk to him because he’s working. The agent ignores him and says… “Where were you born? We are looking for someone.” The man tells him he doesn’t care who they’re looking for… He’s working. Instead of leaving him alone, the agent gets in his way, and demands his identification. The man says he doesn’t have an ID on him… So, the agent demands his name. The man tells him he’s a legal U.S. citizen, and that’s all he needs to tell him. The agent ignores that, and keeps harassing him with… Where were you born? Where are you from? The United States? The U.S. citizens keeps trying to tell the agent he needs to work before the concrete is sets, and tries to walk away. But the agent keeps following and blocking the U.S. citizen until he finally tells the agent to get off of him, and demands the agent’s name and badge number. The agent responds… “I’m asking YOU the questions.” Then, another agent says, “Let’s go.” And the agent finally walks away, saying… “Okay, that’s fine. HE’S NOT OUR GUY ANYWAY.” THEN WHY THE HELL DID YOU KEEP HARASSING HIM?! ICE cannot just stop or detain someone because they want to know where they were born. The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable seizures, and ICE agents need reasonable suspicion to detain someone for immigration questioning. And if this was just a “voluntary conversation,” the man was free to walk away. Instead, the agent followed him, blocked him from working, repeatedly demanded his identity and birthplace, and continued confronting him AFTER he tried to walk away. And that should piss everyone off. Because this wasn’t about finding the person they were looking for… The agent admitted that he KNEW the man wasn’t their guy. But that didn’t stop the armed federal agent from following and harassing a U.S. citizen. And it’s exactly how constitutional rights disappear… one “small” violation at a time… until we’re expected to accept the government treating our rights like they’re optional.

In the video, a U.S. citizen is standing in a parking lot while agents illegally racially profile him and try to “run” his information. They can’t identify him. Bystanders repeatedly tell the agents he is a U.S. citizen and that they cannot take him. The agents ignore everyone, walk him to their vehicle, and take him anyway. An hour and a half later, after illegally detaining and transporting him, they drop him off miles from where they kidnapped him. That is an unlawful detention. That is an unlawful arrest. That is government agents disappearing a U.S. citizen because he didn’t have “papers” on him. And this is exactly why you never answer ICE’s questions. The only thing you should ever say to an agent is: “Am I being detained, or am I free to go?” If they are stopping you, they should already know who you are.

🚨BREAKING: An ICE/Border Patrol agent approached a U.S. citizen’s car, opened the door without permission, took his keys, threatened to arrest him if he didn’t prove his citizenship, and STILL refused to return his keys after he showed his U.S. PASSPORT. And then, the agent admitted ON CAMERA that the entire detention was unlawful. And here is what makes this even more disturbing… At no point did the agent claim this man committed an actual crime, but still threatened to arrest him. He was just a person who pulled over near a federal immigration operation. And because of that, the agent walked up to his vehicle, opened his door, took his keys, and threatened to put him in jail unless he proved he was a U.S. citizen. Which is not how constitutional rights work. The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures. The U.S. citizen repeatedly asked… “Why am I being detained?” The agent first claimed he was “suspected of being illegal.” But, they didn’t have evidence to back that claim. And even after showing his U.S. PASSPORT, they refused to give him his keys back… When the U.S. citizen continued questioning why he was detained… the justification changed. Now, the agent claims he was supposedly “impeding an immigration investigation.” The man asked, “How did I impede?” The agent answered, “You pulled up right here.” That was the reason… He pulled over. The man asked, “Did I walk over there?” The agent said, “No.” “You walked to me.” The agent admitted to that. The man never left his car. He never blocked agents. He never interfered with an arrest. He pulled over… and the agent came to him. And note, the issue was never that agent told the U.S. citizen to leave… Then, after failing to justify an excuse for stealing this U.S. citizen’s keys, and threatening to arrest him if he didn’t prove his citizenship, the agent said he detained him because… “You are their boss and you hire illegal aliens.” So, the agent’s justification was not that this U.S. citizen committed a crime, it was that he was connected to people they were investigating. This is exactly why constitutional protections exist. Because if law enforcement can decide someone “looks suspicious,” demand proof of citizenship, seized their property, and threaten to arrest them until they comply with unlawful orders, those rights mean nothing. People have a right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures… regardless of their appearance, their ethnicity, or who they know. And this agent’s own words expose him: He didn’t stop this man. He didn’t pull him over. He didn’t catch him committing a crime. He approached a U.S. citizen, unlawfully detained him, and then tried to justify it afterward.

According to the man filming, ICE followed him until they initiated a stop. As they detained the U.S. citizen, an agent reached into his vehicle and tried to take his ID. The man asked, “Why are you snatching my stuff?” The agent replied, “I’m not snatching your stuff. This is a lawful stop. During the stop the man repeatedly told his wife to record the agents and claimed he had a business and spoke English. ICE agents eventually had to physically remove him from the vehicle after he refused to comply. His wife can be heard screaming for them not to hurt him. He should have used the CBP Home App.
