A woman was driving on Highway 211, in Oregon, when a vehicle with flashing red and blue lights pulled behind her. Believing she was being stopped by law enforcement, she pulled over. Two men approached her vehicle, one was carrying a rifle, and they claimed to be ICE agents and told her she was being detained. They pulled her out of her car, searched her, and put her in the back of their vehicle. Then, a third man… who remained inside the vehicle… assaulted her. He told her he was the “guard.” The men were wearing tactical vests labeled “POLICE,” carrying fake badges, and wore face coverings. They held her for nearly 20 minutes before telling her she was free to go… and then she drove herself to the hospital. And while she was there, she reported that she started receiving text messages from someone claiming to be a law firm offering legal representation for her detention. Federal authorities later confirmed this was NOT an official ICE operation… These were people pretending to be federal agents. 🚨BREAKING: Cook County State’s Attorney, Eileen O’Neill Burke, is refusing to bring felony charges against the ICE agent who attacked attorney Robert Held for filming him… while standing on a PUBLIC sidewalk. Robert Held, a 68-year-old attorney, was legally recording an ICE agent in Brookfield when the agent rushed him, threw him to the ground, and tried to rip his phone away because he wanted to delete the video. (The ICE agent’s own words.) And despite the fact that Held was over 60, standing on public property, and violently thrown to the ground by a federal agent trying to destroy evidence… State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke declined felony charges and reduced it to a misdemeanor battery case. This is the same Eileen O’Neill Burke who spent months publicly claiming federal agents would be held accountable, if they committed crimes, in Cook County. She literally announced new “protocols” for prosecuting violent ICE agents… held press conferences about accountability… and said “no one is above the law.” Apparently that only applies until an ICE agent is actually caught assaulting someone on camera. Because what message does this send? That federal agents can attack civilians for exercising their First Amendment rights… That they can try to seize or destroy evidence… and throw anyone they want to the pavement… And prosecutors will still bend over backwards to protect them from felony charges. Robert Held, a 68-year-old attorney, was legally recording an ICE agent in Brookfield when the agent rushed him, threw him to the ground, and tried to rip his phone away because he wanted to delete the video. (The ICE agent’s own words.) And despite the fact that Held was over 60, standing on public property, and violently thrown to the ground by a federal agent trying to destroy evidence… State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke declined felony charges and reduced it to a misdemeanor battery case. This is the same Eileen O’Neill Burke who spent months publicly claiming federal agents would be held accountable, if they committed crimes, in Cook County. She literally announced new “protocols” for prosecuting violent ICE agents… held press conferences about accountability… and said “no one is above the law.” Apparently that only applies until an ICE agent is actually caught assaulting someone on camera. Because what message does this send? That federal agents can attack civilians for exercising their First Amendment rights… That they can try to seize or destroy evidence… and throw anyone they want to the pavement… And prosecutors will still bend over backwards to protect them from felony charges. And every time prosecutors refuse to fully hold these agents accountable… they are telling the public exactly who the law actually protects.

The facts of what happened in Minneapolis on Jan 7 matter: at 10:25 AM CT the individual in question was using her vehicle to block-in law enforcement officers and obstruct lawful operations—a felony. Throughout the course of the morning, the individual and her partner had been stalking, harassing and impeding law enforcement. ICE law enforcement approached the individual in question and gave repeated lawful commands to stop obstructing operations and then ordered her out of her vehicle for arrest. She refused to comply. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle, a deadly weapon, and hit a federal law enforcement officer. The ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement, and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. Peaceful protest is a sacred First Amendment right. This was not that. If you obstruct law enforcement operations, ignore lawful commands, and use a deadly weapon to kill or cause bodily harm to a federal law enforcement office there are dangerous, and in this case deadly, consequences. This was entirely preventable.

🚨BREAKING: In a Chicago suburb, a U.S. citizen was observing an adult man in a black ski mask, who she believed was an ICE agent, driving around a HIGH SCHOOL… …and police pulled HER over. Not the MASKED MAN driving around the Schaumburg high school… The officer told her she was being detained for “stalking.” Even though, when she asked who she was allegedly stalking… the cop admitted he didn’t even know yet, and would “find out in just a moment.” So, just to clarify… The cop hadn’t confirmed who the MASKED MAN was. He hadn’t determined whether he was a federal agent, or why he was driving around a HIGH SCHOOL in a SKI MASK. But the cop had already decided the woman, OBSERVING THE MASKED MAN, was the problem. Americans have a First Amendment right to observe what government officials are doing in public. If this was a federal agent… documenting their activity isn’t a crime. It’s accountability. And if it wasn’t a federal agent… most people would expect the police to be concerned about a MASKED MAN driving around a HIGH SCHOOL. Not the woman observing him. In a country where school shootings are a real and constant threat to students… that’s the bare minimum our law enforcement should be doing. But when she asked why a MASK MAN, driving around a HIGH SCHOOL, didn’t concern him, the officer said: “Everyone wears masks nowadays.” So, if someone can be detained for peacefully observing, what they reasonably believe is government activity… While police focus more on the observer than the MASKED MAN around a HIGH SCHOOL… Then we have some serious questions that need to be asked… Governor JB Pritzker
