I'd argue she's become a better vocalist in recent years

I agree but I wish she would sing beautiful as it should be sung. These long pauses and ad libs infuriate me 😂

LOL I get that POV, it's very different from the version people know and love (the album/single version) ...but I think she does this to make it still interesting for her to sing -- as she sings this song prob more than anything else for years and years and prob gets bored of it haha

I really think she has. There's a continued vocal maturity she's showing. You see it usually with each era and she's really honed in on her control in this era it seems. Beautiful renditions tonight

Yes! You can hear the choices she's making in real time (with rehearsal of course) and they are much more mature and have more musicality to them then just being all over the place. But! I love that she’s still not afraid to be extra at the end hahaha

don't think she's reached the level of refinement she did in Love U Porgy, Beautiful CNN or Lift me Up. She certainly has a beautiful & dark velvety tone now on the quiet parts of the song but still overdoes it everytime, no subtlety & the youre mine part gets worse & worse

I think she could pull off another Porgy type of vocal perf with the right song/setting/preparation -- those kind of clean, non-belting vocals seem very easy for her tbh ...and she's good at emoting there, too
