idk why but i find it funny how they are using a trackball controller in a giant space ship

weirdly enough, trackballs are actually pretty popular among people who use 3D software. I imagine they’d work pretty well for piloting a spaceship

Kinda makes sense when you gotta zip that pinpoint barrier dome across the hull and need 360 of movement at random. I also love how later iterations of Macross have made pinpoint barrier systems automatic and miniaturized enough that even Valkyries have them.

in certain applications, trackballs are the best. ships are a big one. i really liked using them too, a very large ball is sunk in sticks up about an inch & you manipulate it with your palm and buttons across the top with your fingers. they are built like tanks too.
