Ever wondered what neural networks are and how they work? Systems like ChatGPT use neural networks to work as well as they do. Neural networks are composed of "layers" of neurons, layers with different functions; connections between layers called "weights"; and mathematical functions called "activation functions". If you’re interested in learning about these systems, check the comments. Ultimately, the neural network structure of the model serves to visually demonstrate that it is, in fact, a complex mathematical equation. When companies release the model's weights, they are releasing a key component needed to run the model's complete equation. Without the weights, the equation is incomplete. For the math-minded: the weights of a model are the learned numbers (they are variables during training) that are then used as constants in the mathematical functions that make up the model. Neural networks are ultimately just one big, hyper-complex mathematical function, and when a model is trained, it learns the constants associated with the high-dimensional input.

🔥🤔When asked yesterday if they were “LOOKING FOR ANYBODY ELSE ?” The Providence Chief of Police said “NOT AT THIS POINT.” & then the Mayor came out to say “PEOPLE SHOULD BREATHE A LITTLE EASIER.” But then today Mayor Smiley says “That doesn’t mean that the INVESTIGATION WAS STOPPED OR IN ANYWAY PAUSED.” So basically they made BROWN UNIVERSITY & THE PEOPLE OF PROVIDENCE FEEL VERY AT EASE when there is still a mass shooter out there. It seems to me like they STOPPED LOOKING YESTERDAY. I guess we are supposed to believe that when saw they saw what the FALSE SUSPECT LOOKED LIKE…they had ZERO OTHER PHOTOS/VIDEOS to use as a frame of reference to rule him out? They did however leave the city vulnerable and give the actual shooter time to further escape and have not really provided us with ANY PHOTOS/VIDEO aside from the useless one to seek the HELP OF THE PUBLIC. How is this possible in 2025?

Skill Development: This a shot preparation drill I did with Charlisse LW & Gabs . There are 3 spots (slot to slot & wing to corner). They have to get 2, 3/5 makes in all three spots. The passer yells “now” and that is when they know to turn, locate, and get their feet set. This is the first time they did this. They keep getting better and better. #GrowOurGame #EarnWhatYouWant #GrowthMindset

This is what happens when you rage tweet without understanding elementary optics. The undulations seen here is an optical illusion. In optics, this phenomenon is called telephoto compression. This happens when you use a zoom lens from far away. The lens "squashes" the scene, making the background and foreground look much closer together than they actually are. If you stood there yourself, the road would look normal. Even the part where the road divider supposedly "widens" is actually quite long section and the increase in width is gradual, and would be hardly noticeable for folks who are driving on the stretch I shot this video 10 years ago showing how gradients get exaggerated when you zoom in.

Nvidia recently showcased DLSS 5 again being used in character face models and talked about how developers are able to control the intensity of DLSS 5 being applied for “creative freedom”. However, if you look closely at the video when they move the slider, the character face structure (especially on the nose) changes significantly, this is one thing that I don't think generative AI gets right, especially during motion. There are also three different models trained on different data resulting in multiple looks that the developers can also choose from.

How many people have had this happen to them? You take car to the dealer for a routine oil change, when they send you the inspection video, they avoid showing the rear, you think nothing of it and go pick up your car. Upon arrival you notice there is significant damage to the back, as if someone backed into a concrete pole. The dealer denies it and claims it was possibly hit by another customer. What’s the chances the dealer does the right thing and even if they do, would you go back knowing they tried to pull a fast one?

How many people have had this happen to them? Another difference is that the human can explain, can write a book later, having become world champion, can write a book saying how I did it, as the computer program that beats the world champion can write no such book, because it has no idea how it did it. It was just following a program. I was doing this and that and that and none of that is illuminating. Also, third thing, the chess player can decide I don't want to play chess anymore, from now on I will play Go or from now on I will play tennis. If commanded to play chess, the functionality will deteriorate completely. Those things are different. What we want in an AGI is that it behaves in a way that cannot be specified in advance, because if you specified it, you would already have the answer.
