China has a hybrid system between socialism and capitalism. They had to adopt some capitalist ideology’s to achieve their current status.

That’s basically a clean example of overengineering, which is when a company adds extra complexity and technical “wow” to solve a problem that already has a simple, reliable solution. Closing a car door is already effortless, so building a gesture system to do it adds sensors, motors, software, calibration, and a bunch of new failure points for a benefit that’s tiny in real life. Car companies also have to think in terms of cost and tradeoffs, and a gimmick feature like this competes against things that matter more to most buyers like ride quality, cabin quietness, safety tech that actually reduces crashes, better HVAC, better infotainment stability, and just overall reliability. On top of that, anything that automatically moves a heavy door creates safety and liability concerns because it has to detect fingers, kids, pets, tight garage spaces, wind, and snow or ice without messing up, and doing that consistently is harder than it sounds. So it’s not really that the US “doesn’t have the tech,” it’s that most manufacturers don’t see enough real-world value to justify the added cost, complexity, and risk when a normal door already works perfectly fine.

Have China ever stolen our technologies, yes to certain degrees. Is China leading with innovation and tech breakthrough in EV, Solar, Wind Power, Construction, and even space technologies, also yes. While China is doing all these, America sadly is debating what is a woman.

BYD is a good car company but way behind tesla as far as technology goes. The super lux car that is also in this video would compete with the Rolls-Royce, and a majority of individuals wouldn’t be able to afford it. BYD has yet to solve FSD

This isn’t very advanced technology it’s nothing special It’s just the Chinese and Western markets are very different. The west aren’t very “gimmick tolerant” especially on high end cars, the eastern market loves this stuff, it’s a cultural difference not a tech difference.

I know first hand they stole my technology and quite a few other companies as well. This was back in the early nineties. They buy and reverse engineer our products, or bribe employees to give up technology.

Average car price in China is 18.3K USD, average income is 5.7K USD. Average price of a car in the US is 25K USD and the average income is 57K USD. The car you are showing is for an insanely rich person and likely call out of reach if that 18.3K price. China’s income average income isn’t even higher than car prices. They lack freedom of movement and you better stay in line or that social credit score will keep your ass close to home. Let’s not talk about home ownership there lol.
