If MLB is going to have the ABS Challenge system, this simply cannot occur. This is actually a disgrace and someone needs to be held accountable.

100% agreed. If no video exists at the moment or a glitch happens, the pitch should remain as called by the umpire (whether an awful call or not) due to not having evidence to overturn it. But the team shouldn’t lose a challenge as a result of it.

I can't be the only one who sees something like this and questions what the prop bet lines looked like for that at bat.

technology fails. that’s a reality of life. as i understand it, if ABS is unavailable for whatever reason during a challenge, the call on the field is upheld, but the challenging team is supposed to retain their challenge

Brewer game a few weeks ago. ABS called it a strike, UMP said it was a glitch and said it was a ball. Wtf.

the amount of time it takes to review these challenges is way too long for a broadcast.

This big screen malfunction has happened a number of times at various ballparks around the league this year and every time its happened, the umps gets the word from the replay offices who correctly review the plays. So why not this time? Cuz it wouldn’t benefit the Yankees?

That didn't look like a strike. But if the ABS cannot provide the video of where the ball was, then the pitch should be disallowed. If you can't prove either way if it was a ball or strike, then how can the pitch be counted at all?

People overthinking this. System failed to pick up the pitch, umpire didn’t know what to do and just stuck with his original call. He should have communicated that fact better. Sticking with the original call is the right decision, but he should have given As their challenge back

Every challenge has been shown on the big screen or while the ump has been waiting for an answer from the booth. Thats what I have seen. And now since its the Yankees, no video for all to see and of course a call in their favor. Interesting

When you play MLB games in Minor League Stadiums, the standards are low. If we’re blaming anyone, we’re blaming the @Athletics for playing in a crappy stadium.

I truly don't know why they don't use ABS for 100 % of every ball & strike call. Why go through these very limited challenges? ABS would make it fair for both the pitchers and the hitters. Take away the guesswork.

Happened last week to the Brewers against the Cubs and now the Yanks benefit too. Never fail to give that extra boost to the teams that don’t need it 😭😭
