let's be clear: there are plenty of English speaking drivers that should not be going over these passes. This guy got his truck stopped safely.. But clearly did not understand how to properly crawl down a hill in low gear with their engine brakes. I see this all the time.

It is unfortunately very common in the trucking industry to utilize the trailer's braking system when going downhill instead of their own tractors brakes. Saves the trucking company a lot of maintenance costs since the trailers are owned by outside companies.

I went down this road in April while not realizing my trailer’s electrical line had unattached itself from the truck. Luckily, I was in a low gear and the trailer was light. Thanks for the memories. I didn’t realize the issue until Cortez!

What’s worse is he was coming into a flagging zone with people and traffic reduced one lane two-way flagging. Should have bailed at the road work ahead that was way before the truck ramp.
