If you do 1, 2, 3 PROPER sets for a given muscle group per week…it’s probably not going to grow If you do 4, 5, 6, 7 PROPER sets for a given muscle group per week…it’s probably going to grow at a solid rate If you do 8, 9,... show more

There’s no cap. My buddy is doing a crazy experiment. Results would make Mike Metzer explode.

What do you count when you're talking about a muscle group? Sometimes I see people use it to refer to broad categories like legs/back and sometimes much more specific like brachialis, side delts, etc.

Just add more volume ignores the biggest constraint recovery. More sets only help until the rest of your training starts suffering.

Legend, thank you!

Wrong.

What about compound lifts? For example, bench press & military press like lifts, target pecs. They also work triceps & delts. My push day is smith bench, military press, reverse peck deck , peck deck, lateral raises, and tricep ext. 4x6 at most 1 to in reserve at the end.

So if I’m doing your upper/lower, push/pull workout 4 days a week and chest is my main focus would you advise adding a couple more sets of chest on upper and push days?

Is there not already 8+ ?

My bad. It’s early 😂

Okay so what about rear delts then? I follow your PPLUL 5 day split almost exactly, except with a few adjustments like incline bench curls instead of upper arm supported curls on pull day. Since rear delt flys are only on one day, is it worth it to keep those in there?

Rear delts are also hit on rowing movements

Point your toes down.

You seem to like machines, but I notice that you are rather strong and using almost all the plates on some. What do you suggest to continue to improve if you have reached the maximum amount of weight available? Just more reps?
