If you work with large, complex data, consider joining VIZBI 2023, the EMBO workshop on Visualizing Biological Data (March 28–31). Here’s how 21 leading experts can help you find insights buried in your data. Even if you can't join the workshop. 1/7

First, you need to decide how to visually encode your data. Here, it helps to learn from an expert in general data visualisation principles, methods, and techniques - like keynote speaker Stefan Bruckner (U. Rostock, DE). 2/7

Next, you often need multiple, linked views of your data. Here, it helps to learn from an expert on human-computer interaction and visual perception - like keynote speaker Arzu Çöltekin (FHNW, CH). 3/7

You also need to know visualisation methods specific to your field. VIZBI has you covered, with talks from 18 experts working on DNA, RNA, proteins, cells, tissues, and ecosystems. 4/7

Once you’ve discovered something, you’ll need to communicate it. Here, visualisation also helps. At VIZBI 2023 you can learn from two Emmy-award winners, both experts at communicating complex biological processes: Martin Dohrn (Ammonite, UK) and Drew Berry (WEHI, AU). 5/7

Too busy to spend three days learning about data visualisation? How about spending two half-days learning state-of-the-art DataVis methods from leading experts, at the VIZBI Masterclass - an online training event running March 27-28, just before the VIZBI workshop. 6/7

To join the VIZBI 2023 on-site workshop in Heidelberg, Germany, you need to register by tomorrow (Feb 24). To join the VIZBI Workshop or Masterclass online, register by March 21. Or, follow @vizbi and #vizbi to catch highlights from the meeting. 7/7

I see someone watched Life That Glows :) , @beroe

@beroe Indeed! The Life That Glows / Light on Earth cinematographer Martin Dohrn is our keynote speaker this year. Thanks to that, we've kind've fallen in love with the work of @beroe - and everything bioluminescent.
