We are reimagining Embarcadero Plaza, turning it into a true front door to downtown and a destination in its own right. This is part of our vision for a downtown where people live, work, play, and learn—with space for events, music, families, dogs, art, and more. The new Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Park will help us build on our momentum downtown, which powers the recovery for our entire city. Help us shape a space that reflects the best of San Francisco for generations to come. Leave a comment! ⬇️

The future of Downtown San Francisco just got a huge boost from the Biden Administration. Thanks to advocacy from our Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, the federal government announced a new investment of $3.4 billion in the Portal, our transit center, to bring Caltrain — and eventually High Speed Rail — into the heart of our Downtown. With plans for 11 transit systems within and around the center, this investment isn’t just a commitment to the future of transportation in our city, region, and state, it’s a commitment to a thriving future for San Francisco. It’s a sign of what we can do when we work together and think big about what’s possible. The future of San Francisco and California is High Speed Rail, and the Portal in our Downtown is where that future will live.

Today, I signed legislation that will pave the way for a new tower downtown and generate a projected $816 million in annual economic activity. The mixed-use site will include: ➡️ A new fire station ➡️ A 5-star hotel ➡️ 390,000 square feet of office space ➡️ Retail and restaurant space ➡️ Millions of dollars for affordable housing Thank you, Supervisor Danny Sauter 李爾德, for co-sponsoring my legislation and to the Office of Economic and Workforce Development for their help in making downtown a 24/7 thriving neighborhood.

“This is our neighborhood.” The aftermath of a homeless encampment was spotted in downtown Grand Rapids by a local father and son. Neighbors harassed the father for reporting the Wilcox Park site to city officials.

How do we revitalize downtown? By investing in public safety, small business, and the arts. Today, I'm announcing a proposal to realize that vision through the Theater Arts District. Over 1 million visitors come to the mid market neighborhood to visit our theaters - Warfield, Golden Gate, Orpheum, ACT Strand, and Bill Graham. That brings in potentially over $1.3 billion in economic impact to our city every year. To boost this economic engine, my office and Public Works, Rec Park, and Mid Market Foundation developed a proposal for a public realm enhancement which will include: - Art filled crosswalks and murals inspired by plays and musicals - Interactive lighting and digital displays to brighten the corridor - Street performances and small business activations to bring energy and foot traffic These enhancements will build on ongoing public safety and small business investments. SFPD has increased foot patrols at key intersections on the corridor and our Drug Market Agency Coordination Center is now operating 24/7. The Office of Economic and Workforce Development is expanding its Storefront Opportunity grant to provide $50K - $100K in funding to open new small businesses in the Mid Market corridor. Combined, the Theater Art District proposal can help drive potentially $100 million in economic impact via just a 10% increase in shows at the theaters. The proposal will be funded by private philanthropy and we hope to kick off the pilot in 2026-2027. If you're interested in helping, please reach out and let's partner to create the Theater Arts District together.

The historic Byward Market in the heart of downtown Ottawa, a once bustling and vibrant destination for tourists and locals alike, is now an absolute ghost town. I can think of a number of factors contributing to this, but I want to hear your thoughts, why is no one visiting? Mark Sutcliffe Mark Carney

Tonight, Union Station shines in blue, white and gold for the next generation of Royals baseball and its historic return to the heart of our community. The restoration and reopening of Union Station 25 years ago, made possible by the shared commitment of citizens on both sides of the state line, marked a turning point for our city. Since then, our downtown has been reimagined and revitalized, earning recognition across the nation and beyond. We are vital and vibrant and ready for the next big step... downtown baseball. This is a truly generational opportunity rooted in both history and hope. Long before today, baseball teams and ballparks (some now remembered only in name) laid the foundation for baseball in our historic core. Included are the Unions at Athletic Park in 1884. The Kansas City Cowboys at League Park in 1886. The Royal Giants at Shelley Park in 1910. The Packers at Gordon & Koppel Field beginning in 1913. The Kansas City Blues at Association Park in the early 1920s, before moving in 1923, along with the Monarchs, to what would eventually be called Municipal Stadium. In 1955, the Athletics started playing in a nearly entirely rebuilt Municipal Stadium, followed by the Royals in 1969, before their move to Royals Stadium in 1973. So, we look ahead with clarity and optimism and are listening carefully for the details of downtown baseball to be shared. And while that process plays out, we’re excited about the opportunity to bring baseball’s legends, legacy, and love back to the place where it all began. It’s time to welcome downtown baseball home once again, for all of Kansas City.

We are serious about the development of St. Ann, and today we are taking a closer look at some of the exciting plans for the parish. We have an exceptional team, and we are excited about the future of St. Ann. Here’s a glimpse of what that future looks like. And what about the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls and Park? We have major development plans for that as well. As for Belmont Cove (Little Dunn’s River), we have a vision for that too. Now, for Laughing Waters, this is the vision proudly being brought to life by the UDC.

Merrillville, Indiana is becoming a major hub for the Sikh community in the Midwest, and a new $10 million Gurdwara Sahib is the latest sign of that growth. According to organizers, the project is one of the largest Sikh religious centers in the Midwest, sitting on 20 acres with a 15,000 square foot building and a 150-foot elevation. They say the goal is to create a place that resembles the grand Gurdwaras found in India while serving as a spiritual, cultural, and community hub for generations. In their own video announcement, community leaders describe Merrillville as becoming a destination for the Sikh community, saying the area is now “on the map” and highlighting future opportunities for families, businesses, and the broader community. They say the project came together through support and donations from people across Indiana and multiple other states, calling it a historic achievement and a lasting legacy for the Sikh community. The full video is nearly 20 minutes long and is a mix of Indian languages and English. I was only able to AI translate about 5 minutes of the video, but even that portion highlights the scale of the project, the growth of the congregation, and the significance they place on this new center. Yesterday, I had the distinct honour and privilege of being entrusted by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, to represent him at the official opening of ED Block at Millennium Heights. It was a great privilege to witness first-hand the remarkable progress of this visionary development, for which His Excellency had the honour of breaking ground. ED Block stands in a class of its own. With 130 exceptional apartments, including 10 luxurious penthouses, it represents a new benchmark in quality, design and modern living in Zimbabwe. The broader Millennium Heights development is an ambitious vision comprising 10 blocks and approximately 1,500 residences and apartments—a significant investment that reflects confidence in Zimbabwe's future and the possibilities that exist when vision, enterprise and leadership converge. I was particularly encouraged to see the 1 BILLION BRICKS vision of Mr. Ken Sharpe taking tangible shape and to witness the remarkable contribution that His Excellency's leadership and support have made in helping bring this vision to fruition. As a Presidential Envoy and Ambassador-at-Large, I remain deeply honoured to serve and to represent the President on occasions that showcase Zimbabwe's progress, excellence and investment potential. A new standard has been set. A vision is becoming reality. Zimbabwe is building for the future. #PresidentialEnvoy #AmbassadorAtLarge #Zimbabwe #MillenniumHeights #EDBlock ZimbabweRising InvestmentInZimbabwe Development Leadership Vision Harare

In a step that reflects Dubai’s forward-looking cultural vision and its belief that creativity and innovation sit at the core of sustainable development, we have launched the Museum of Digital Art (MODA) - the region’s first museum dedicated to digital art and new technologies - in collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The museum is an important addition to our cultural and creative ecosystem, serving as a global platform where culture meets technology and the creative economy, reshaping how art is produced, presented, and experienced in the digital age. In Dubai, we continue to build cultural institutions that keep pace with future transformations, expanding opportunities for artists, creators, and talent, guided by the conviction that culture is a key driver in shaping the economy of the future. MODA embodies the concept of future museums: living spaces for creativity, knowledge, and community interaction that go beyond the traditional role of preserving heritage, becoming bridges that connect ideas and generations across time and borders, and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for culture, innovation, and creativity.

We just marked a major milestone in the transformation of San Francisco’s waterfront with the opening of Verde, the fourth and final building in the first phase of Mission Rock. This vibrant new community represents what’s possible when we work toward a shared vision: 254 new homes, 59 of which are affordable, alongside new retail, co-working spaces, and the mixed use opportunities that will define our city’s future. Mission Rock is more than just buildings—it’s a promise of a thriving, inclusive, and resilient San Francisco. From the Visa Building and China Basin Park to yesterday’s ribbon cutting at Verde, we’re seeing our city’s promise come to life.

RE: Data Center purpose. In addition to building a Digital Enslavement Grid—which is obvious—I think the larger thing they're building is a Machine that predicts AND creates the future. Because a machine that can predict the future is also essentially able to create the future simply by adjusting the inputs. They're trying to make a world that's currently indeterminate & uncertain into one that's determinate & certain—through the power of modeling & simulating entire worlds and entities billions of times, and creating a Future-Making All-Seeing-Eye Super Intelligence. Cyber god. If Your Future Machine is better, faster & smarter than The Other Guy's, your future wins. If Your Cyber god is more powerful than The Other Guy's, Your vision wins. Reality becomes what you decide. You can cripple all opposition, and subdue all others beneath you. Think of the world like a giant game of chess. If Your Machine plays better chess than The Other Guy's Machine, it's checkmate for him every time. To use another analogy: think of the classic idea that a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world creates a storm in another part of the world. We're talking about the power to know which butterfly, and where, is needed to create said storm, when and where. And the power to defeat The Other Guy's butterfly. Unfortunately, we Americans are all "the other guy" in this scenario (along with virtually every other people in the world). And the power of the future and reality will reside with who controls The Machine, who commands Cyber god. This "Data Center" push is nothing less than building the ability to seize absolute power over the world and shape the future into whatever vision the Tech Oligarchs desire for us, and we won't be able to do anything about it. Checkmate. Right now, they're positioning the pieces. Our window is limited. We're on the clock. Thoughts? What else do you think the implications are for the hyper-massive amount of computing power they're assembling?
