Chaired a meeting on financial planning of statewide urban infrastructure and civic amenities projects under the Maharashtra Urban Infrastructure Fund (MUINFRA). While reviewing the meeting, expressed that long-term planning is essential for basic services such as sewage, drainage, solid waste management and water supply in our cities. Separate plans must be prepared for each sector, focusing not only on funding but also on resource planning. Also highlighted that projects must not stall due to lack of funds and sufficient arrangements should be made to ensure their completion. Local bodies must receive financial support and the facilities created must be effectively monitored. Urban development is not just about constructing buildings, but a process that drives social and economic progress. For the growth of urban infrastructure, we must adopt a unified framework, long-term planning and proper use of funds. The choices we make today will shape our cities for the next 50 years and every project must be undertaken with that future in mind.
